The Clearing Episode 8 Review: Hulu’s latest psychological crime-thriller is created by Elise McCredie and Matt Cameron and is based on In the Clearing by J. P. Pomare. The screenplay is adapted from the book by Elise McCredie, Matt Cameron and Osamah Sami. Jeffrey Walker and Gracie Otto serve as the directors for the thriller.
The main cast for the series includes Teresa Palmer, Miranda Otto, Guy Pearce and Julia Savage. It also features Hazem Shammas, Kate Mulvany, Xavier Samuel, Anna Lise Phillips, Mark Coles Smith, Harry Greenwood, Erroll Shand, Doris Younane, Claudia Karvan, Miah Madden, Gary Sweet, Alicia Gardiner, Matt Okine, Jeremy Blewitt, Lily La Torre, Ras-Samuel Welda’abzgi, Berlin Lu and Kristof Kaczmarek.
The producer for this series is Jude Troy and the executive producers are McCredie, Cameron and Walker with Richard Finlayson and Elizabeth Bradley. There are a total of eight episodes in the show. The runtime of each episode is 40-60 minutes. The Clearing Episode 8 is titled Island and marks the finale for this series.

The Clearing Episode 8 Review: Island
Everything gets tied up together in The Clearing Episode 8 which marks the show’s finale. The dark and gritty thriller has so far made our skin crawl with all the cult plot. In the final episode, it all rests on Freya’s shoulders to make sure everything ends well for the good ones and, the bad ones are put behind bars.
In the last episode of The Clearing, we saw how Billy went missing when Freya went for a dip. Following up on that incident, in The Clearing Episode 8, we see Freya and the police looking for Billy in the woods. Although they fail to locate Freya’s son, they do find indications of someone staying in the treehouse in the woods near Freya’s house.
All fingers about Billy’s kidnapping point to Adrienne. Thus, Freya does not waste much time pursuing that lead. She even enlists the help of Joe. However, in the process of finding her son, all the dark and looming questions from the past are answered. It is like opening a can of worms that is neverending as Freya faces some shocking revelation giving us an idea about why she has PTSD.

As Freya continues her search, Adrienne is on her mission to restart The Kindred. She has a new place and support from people such as Dr. Lanthan and Anton. Although the answer to the question, of whether she will be able to set up her cult camp one more time, is something that awaits us at the end of the show.
The Clearing Episode 8: Final Verdict
Overall, The Clearing Episode 8 does a decent job of tying all loose ends. We find out about Freya’s parentage and Sara’s death alongside the true intentions of some grey and complex characters presented to us throughout the show (such as Max). But mostly, the eighth episode rests on adrenaline and panic and a race against time to stop the bad things from starting again.
It is still horrifying to confront the fact that The Clearing is actually based on real-life events and, although there is dramatization throughout, it still impacts us deeply on a psychological level. The series has served us with amazing acting performances and, the only drawback so far has been the jumpy script that distracts us right when we are about to settle down in a scene.
