Sophie plans for her weekend with Robert and is excited about it. Since she finds her dating life with Robert going smoothly, she believes she’s found the one. On the other hand, Sophie worries about Val’s hasty decision of getting engaged to Swish. When she confronts Val, the latter says that Swish is just playing and he will back off soon. But Sophie finds it hard to believe.
Lost and Found Box
Since customers tend to forget their belongings after getting tipsy in Sid’s bar, there is a lost and found box with items. If for a long time, the items aren’t taken back, Sid asks his friends to take anything they want. Val finds a self-help guidebook on cutting one’s hair and wishes to take it. But Jesse pokes in and says it belongs to him and wants it back. Val is curious about why Jesse is desperate to get the book. So she challenges him to a game.
Jesse and Val battle each other, and the latter wins. When she opens it, she finds a love song written to Sophie by Jesse. Now that Val knows the truth, she understands Jesse’s pain and promises to keep the information confidential. Val feels sorry for him and relates it to her experience post-breakup with Charlie. Val throws the book back into the box so someone else can take it.
Sid Visits Hannah
Sid travels to LA to meet his wife, Hannah. On the flight, he meets a passenger called Taylor Jean, who both kick-off. Taylor tells him that she is going to meet her long-distance boyfriend, and Sid, in return, says about his long-distance marriage. Taylor understands Sid, making him feel validated. Her listening to him, which none of his friends did, makes him feel heard, and he befriends Taylor.
When Sid reaches LA, he gets a friend request from Taylor and feels happy. Then, he visits Hannah, and they spend their time together. Sid expresses how the long-distance relationship and the journey back and forth are tiring him out and making him feel whether the marriage is worth all this time and money. We are yet to see how Hannah responds to it. But this is a hint that Hannah and Sid will rethink their life and come to a proper conclusion.
How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 11 Ending: Sophie and Robert Break Up
During the conversation, Robert says he was a part of the 1991 Lollapalooza, which makes Sophie think about how her mother also met her father exactly in the same spot in the same year. Sophie starts to wonder whether she is dating her own biological father. Sophie immediately sends a picture of Robert to her mother and rushes out of the spot, only to bump into Barney.
Barney explains how his father leaving him influenced his life as a womanizer. This makes Sophie wonder that if she searches for and confronts her biological father, her relationship issues will be sorted out. Barney also advises her that it’s not easy to get along with a father who abandoned her and that it will require a lot of time.
Sophie then gets a text from her mother, who confirms that Robert is not her father. Sophie and Robert then have a talk, where Robert reveals that he and Sophie’s mother have hooked up once. This messes up Sophie but also helps her to end their relationship finally.
Final Thoughts
As expected, Robert and Sophie didn’t last. In the next episode, we might witness Sophie’s pursuit of her father, Sid and Hannah’s decision, Val’s decision, and Jesse’s move to express his feelings.
