How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1 Ending Explained: Who Will Sophie End Up Dating in this Season?

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1 wrapped itself up in a very interesting way. The episode is called ‘Cool and Chill’. It is directed by Pamela Fryman and written by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger. The runtime for the episode is 24 minutes.

The creator of How I Met Your Father is Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and, it serves as a standalone sequel to everyone’s favourite show from the early 2000s- How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM). We see the return of Hilary Duff as Sophie, Chris Lowell as Jesse, Francia Raisa as Valentina, Suraj Sharma as Sid, Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Tien Tran as Ellen and Kim Cattrall as the future Sophie. We will also see Ashley Reyes as Hannah, Leighton Meester as Meredith, Josh Peck as Drew, Meaghan Rath as Parker and Stony Blyden as Jasper. In addition to the old cast, we have Mark Consuelos, Constance Marie, Michael Cimino and John Corbett joining the cast for the new season.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1 Ending Explained

Towards the end of How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1, we see the chaos of the entire episode calm down. Sophie realizes that she has been in love with Jesse all along and confesses it to Ian. But, the former has no idea why she is running away from love, which is what she is going to focus on finding out. We see Ian walk out of her life.

As for Jesse, Ellen finally relaxes when she realises that the tour Jesse is going to take with Meredith is only a month long. Meanwhile, Sid isn’t pleased with Jesse’s situation nor is he happy about the wedding party he has thrown Hannah. Ultimately, Sophie calls everyone for the electric slide dance that generates smiles and happy memories.

As the dance goes on, we take a quick jump into the immediate future to witness Sophie frantically calling her mother as she drives. She tells her mother in a voice note that she might be dating her father. A distracted Sophie hits a car in front of her. When she gets out of the car to check who it is, the damage has already been done. But, what thrilled the audience more was who the car belonged to. The legendary Barney Stinson is seen getting out of the car, a little pissed at Sophie’s massacre.
