How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1 is finally out, something fans have been waiting for. The creator of the sitcom is Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and, it serves as a standalone sequel to everyone’s favourite show from the early 2000s- How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM).
We see the return of Hilary Duff as Sophie, Chris Lowell as Jesse, Francia Raisa as Valentina, Suraj Sharma as Sid, Tom Ainsley as Charlie, Tien Tran as Ellen and Kim Cattrall as the future Sophie. We will also see Ashley Reyes as Hannah, Leighton Meester as Meredith, Josh Peck as Drew, Meaghan Rath as Parker and Stony Blyden as Jasper. In addition to the old cast, we have Mark Consuelos, Constance Marie, Michael Cimino and John Corbett joining the cast for the new season.
The first episode of the show’s second season is called ‘Cool and Chill’. It is directed by Pamela Fryman and written by Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger. The runtime for the episode is 24 minutes.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1 Review
The series picks off the second season right where the first season left off very smoothly, making us realize subtly that is has been a year to the last season and giving us a decent recap of what has happened in everyone’s lives. The last season ended with Sophie and Jesse parting ways and Jesse patching up with his old girlfriend, Meredith and Ian showing up right in front of Sophie. Valentina and Charlie are broken up and Sid and Hannah are married, now!
We enter How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1 on the night Sophie encounters Ian, and she takes it as a chance and signs from God to go ahead with him. But, the chemistry we saw the two share previously, clearly seems off this time around. Sid and Hannah’s elopement isn’t a grand affair and thus, they end up throwing a party at the bar.
When Jesse walks in, he congratulates Sid and Hannah but, his attention is mainly taken up by Ian’s presence. Meanwhile, Valentina and Charlie try their best to be friends aka ‘bros’. But, with the sexual tension that is palpable, it is only a matter of how long, right? To add up to the existing dynamics and dilemmas, we also have the show’s cute heart Drew show up, completely unwired and weirdly tanned.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1 Ending
With Sid and Hannah’s wedding party ending in an ‘Electric Slide’ dance, we get a fast forward from the older Sophie into is actually the main climax of the season. We see a Sophie in the near future frantically calling her mother to say that she might be accidentally dating her father. This is followed by her bumping into a car in the middle of the road. And, from that car comes out the iconic Barney Stinson!
How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 1: Final Thoughts
Just like the previous season, this season again starts off with a lot of potentials. We at least have the dynamics of the group complicated but, straight at our faces. However, what is the most interesting for the start of this season is how the episode ends and the cameo by Neil Patrick Harris! There is enough sauce at the present to keep us invested in How I Met Your Father Season 2. But, how long it will last, only time can tell.
