Holy Family Season 2 Ending Explained: Holy Family Season 2 is a pretty interesting thriller series that ties all the loose knots that the first season left aside. The series was first released on Netflix on 14 October 2022. After the success of the first season (aka Sagrada Familia), it got renewed for a second and last season on 15 November 2022, scheduled to air in 2023. The story is written by Manolo Caro, Fernando Pérez and María Miranda, and it was created by Manolo Caro for Netflix. 

The cast of the series includes Najwa Nimri as Gloria, Laura Laprida as Natalia, Gemma Sole as Educadora, Jon Olivares as Pedro, Alba Flores as Caterina, Carla Campra as Aitana Santos, Pol Hermoso, Abril Zamora and Ella Kweku.

The plot focuses on Gloria and her attempts to keep her son Nico to herself. But she’s not the only contender who can claim to be his mother. Natalia, Gloria’s daughter-in-law, will not sit by and watch Gloria take her son away from her. Natalia also tries her best to get her hands on Nico but feels miserable every time at loses him.

Natalia’s father, Fernando, too wants to help his daughter get her son back and can pay a hefty cash to get the job done. But they are not alone, as even Gloria’s friends get roped into the whole mess, and they too face different consequences.

What Happens to Mariana and Philipe?

Mariana truly fell in love with Marcos’s brother Philipe, even though she never ceased to love Marcos. But their relationship was already cursed, because of the mysterious circumstances of Marcos’s death. 

Even though Mariana is not the one responsible for the killing, Philipe still thinks that she is the culprit. In such a situation, Philipe tried to trap Mariana and hand her over to the police while she was trying to flee the country. But that did not happen as due to some extreme luck, Mariana was able to bypass the airport security and leave the country with her brother and nephew.

Who killed Lorenzo?

At first, we thought that it was Gloria who must have killed Lorenzo, but she was telling the truth, and she was not the culprit. She can do heinous things to others, but because of her extreme motherly instincts, she is not capable of harming children. And that is why she actually dropped him off at his house, like she promised.

 But after Lorenzo came to his house, he again went out and ran off towards the pond that he was so fond of. His mother, Blanca also followed him and watched him while he was playing there. Lorenzo accidentally falls into the pond, but instead of saving her son, Blanca just stares at him and lets him die. By the end of the series, she is so guilt-stricken that she finally confesses her deeds in front of the police.

What happens to Gloria and Natalia?

Gloria realises that she is not a good mother and that if she stays with Nico, she will again destroy his life as she did with her older children. But Gloria also understands how Natalia herself is also not a suitable mother. So, to break this whole chain and give Nico a good life, she forces Natalia into a car and locks her up. Then, she drives that car over a cliff, effectively killing herself and Natalia. 

What happens to Nico?

At the beginning of the last episode, we see a man coming to Spain from Canada. We have never seen him before, and then he goes directly to the place where the car crash of Gloria and Natalia occurred. He even throws a white flower down the cliff. He is the adult Nico who most likely visited Spain so that he can know more about his past.
