Heartbeat Episode 6 Recap

Heartbeat episode 6 starts with In-hae discovering Hae-sun’s drawing in the basement of the house. Woo-hyeol’s sudden arrival startles her, and she eventually asks her whether he would really fall for her if she were Hae-sun/her descendant. Woo-hyeol asks her whether she has had a change of heart, but she brushes that off and compliments Hae-sun’s beauty. He then clears the air and tells her that he won’t fall for her since she isn’t Hae-sun. Either way, In-hae can’t let go of the topic, and Woo-hyeol continues to pull her leg, leaving her irritated.

Either way, Woo-hyeol shares that he won’t be going back to work anymore since he threw water on the principal while he was answering nature’s call after he heard him talking on the phone rather loudly about how he kicked In-hae out to give someone else a job by the way of nepotism. Interestingly, In-hae takes his side and tells him that he should’ve poured toilet water on him instead, grossing Woo-hyeol out.

Either way, the two of them wonder what they can do now that they are both without jobs. Woo-hyeol mentions Shaded Oasis and how he misses what he had created all those years ago, saying how he made a lot of money out of it. Anyway, that night, they both think about their earlier conversation and are both left confused by their comments! Elsewhere, Hae-won learns more about the house that she is so obsessed with.

The next day, In-hae starts to interview at different schools, but nothing seems to stick. Feelings defeated, he gets a call from Do-sik, who asks her to meet him. Meanwhile, Woo-hyeol wonders how to win over In-hae’s heart and mulls over how his life has taken such an unexpected turn. At Do-sik’s office, he puts forth the idea of them becoming business partners and asks her whether she wants to use her mansion as a guest house. In-hae is left in deep thought, and Do-sik mentions that she deserves to be happy and that she should take up this offer and not struggle anymore.

Back at home, she floats the idea with Woo-hyeol, who refuses to entertain the idea. In-hae starts to badger him about the reason and then mentions that they can take the mansion back to its former glory, just like Shaded Oasis. Unfortunately, Woo-hyeol still refuses to budge from his stance. Finally, she mentions that if the place takes off, then Hae-sun might make a visit. The thought catches his eye, but he does question why Do-sik wants to be involved in this.

She mentions that she is out of options and money, and if she is unable to pay the property tax on time, the house might be seized. This scares Woo-hyeol, and he has no other option but to agree. Later on, Rose and Sang-hae inform Woo-hyeol that Do-sik might just be in love with In-hae. Either way, when In-hae finally takes up his offer, Do-sik is left ecstatic, and he immediately starts working on his new project. When she arrives at his office, Do-sik has a task force ready with swanky presentations.

However, it is clear that Do-sik is really jealous of Woo-hyeol, and his face immediately falls when In-hae mentions that she will need to talk to him before letting him inside the house to take measurements.

That night, Woo-hyeol calls her down to give her his blessings for the guest house, and she mentions Do-sik’s plan to visit. Hilariously, he asks whether he should give the two of them some space, which immediately triggers her. He circumvents her disbelieved face and mentions that he is only thinking about his identity being revealed. When In-hae gives Do-sik the green light, it’s clear that his heart is full of happiness. Elsewhere, Woo-hyeol tasks Sang-hae to look into Do-sik to learn more about him.

There, Do-sik meets Hae-won and tells her that he plans to turn it into a guest house. The thought leaves Hae-won intrigued. Meanwhile, Sang-hae and Dong-seob plan to find Woo-hyeol’s gold bars to finally come out of their horrible living situations, and Ki-sook gets threatened by Yang-nam to lead a good life and change himself with the changing times.

The next day, Woo-hyeol and In-hae measure out their home, and she sweetly mentions that she is fighting for the house not only for her benefit but also because she wants him to meet Hae-sun. Later on, Do-sik asks In-hae out that evening to meet Hae-won. She arrives at the restaurant awkwardly and chats with Do-sik and Hae-won, who mentions that she wants to invest in her guest house because the mansion speaks to her. The conversation leaves In-hae rather confused, and when she comes home, she also feels that she knows her somehow.

Do-sik finally arrives at the mansion and looks excited to visit. After the initial cold conversation with Woo-hyeol, In-hae takes Do-sik on a tour of the house and subtly flirts with her, which puts Woo-hyeol on edge. However, he stays clear of the two of them in lieu of the poisonous blood turning good and all. Anyway, after sending her away to make some tea, Do-sik talks to Woo-hyeol and asks about his relationship with In-hae. Do-sik tries to pry the information out of him, and Woo-hyeol, in turn, asks him what he feels for In-hae.

Do-sik tells him that he wishes to protect In-hae at all costs, and the answer pleases Woo-hyeol – his plan is working out quite well. Later that night, Woo-hyeol and In-hae are tasked to go on night patrol, wherein they talk about his night patrolling to prevent vampires from hunting humans and the fact that the house is becoming a guest house.

When they come back home, they find Hae-won outside their house, and while In-hae greets her, Woo-hyeol is left shocked by her sudden appearance and hugs her out of the blue, leaving both the women shocked!

Not many funny moments in this episode, and Heartbeat episode 6 turns out to be a hot and cold romantic and emotional look into the lives of two people who are down on their luck and destined to get married. At this moment, I have no idea whether Do-sik really likes In-hae or whether he is simply manipulating her in order to get the mansion. He seems pretty genuine, but when it comes to money, things can get dirty.

Otherwise, this was a decent episode. I am intrigued to see what they do with Baek Seo-hoo’s character because we see a bit of him today without much context. I don’t yet understand why we wasted the 10 minutes that we did following him around. Maybe he has done something to Woo-hyeol; who knows?

On the other hand, Hae-won’s reveal to Woo-hyeol felt a little flat, personally. She was just randomly standing in front of her house for no reason, which is a bit weird. However, hopefully, we get some funny and heartfelt moments in the next episode.

Heartbeat is streaming on Amazon Prime Video in select regions and on KBS2 in Korea.

REVIEW OVERVIEW

Overall

SUMMARY

Heartbeat episode 6 doesn't have too many funny moments and depends more so on some romantic ones. Although they are really cute, they still don't match up to some of the other episodes. However, with things starting to pick up, it might just only be uphill from here.
