Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 Review: Dr Prabhat and the residents of Bhatkhandi are back for another season of village shenanigans as they tackle rural struggles, bureaucratic hurdles and superstitions in the second season of this heartwarming tale. Created by The Viral Fever, the series continues to tug at heartstrings as it explores the realities of healthcare in the rural sector, spinning a warm yet emotional tale that showcases the truth of millions.

With a fantastic first season that left a smile on our faces, the second season dives deeper into several important issues as Prabhat fights against corruption, medicine shortages and system challenges that plague innocent people who are in a bind.

The series has 5 episodes, each with a runtime of around 30 minutes.

Back to Bhathkandi, But With Bigger Problems

Season 2 opens with Prabhat struggling with giving patients medicines, as, thanks to corruption, no medicine is getting delivered to their Primary Healthcare Centre. Meanwhile, he is also struggling to grow awareness among the villagers to come to the healthcare centre and get properly treated, as Chetak Kumar’s charisma continues to woo them. Elsewhere, Gobind faces harsh realities of wanting to better his life as he is asked for an astronomical amount of a bribe.

TVF continues to paint a grounded and approachable story through Gram Chikitsalay, highlighting how innocent people are constantly taken advantage of in the country. The second season increases the stakes as Prabhat has now lived in Bhatkandi for some time and knows the whereabouts of the village. The series highlights how idealism isn’t enough and, when the going gets tough, one has to take up unsavoury tactics to get the job done. With corrupt officials and administrative red tape making an already difficult job even more difficult.

Just like the first season, the second season continues to view these issues through a sympathetic lens and avoids turning them into exaggerated conflicts. It showcases the everyday frustrations of healthcare workers who genuinely care about their patients and do a good job. Striking a balance between entertainment and relatability, the series grounds you in its tales and leaves you hooked from start to end.

Amol Parashar Continues to Anchor the Series

Parashar continues to be a sincere and calming presence in the series and makes us root for him to win every obstacle that comes his way. He’s a bit confused all the time, wondering how everyone lives the way that they do in the village, sometimes mirroring the viewers’ feelings. He’s the emotional centre of the series, and Parashar embodies a character who balances optimism and growing frustrations with ease.

The other actors are also fantastic, as usual. Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, as Dr Gargi, gets a bigger role this season and becomes a helping hand for Prabhat. The others, too, grappling with their own challenges, round out the universe and add emotional depth to the narrative. By focusing on the people who make the village work, it makes the village work feel alive and makes you root for the series through and through.

TVF’s Familiar Formula Still Works

TVF has always been a reliable source for indulging in small-town stories, and Gram Chikitsalay is nothing different. It paints a vivid and immersive world where humour, social commentary and emotional moments come together seamlessly. The series does a great job of not becoming preachy and only brings forth the highs and lows of navigating small-town politics and emotions. As with season 1, season 2 continues to be hilarious even in its quieter moments, as the situations themselves are unhinged, but the series is able to find the humanity in them at every turn. The character-driven storytelling is what differentiates the series from others and leaves us hooked.

A Few Limitations Hold It Back

While Gram Chikitsalay Season 2 is extremely entertaining, the series does have some moments when the pacing falters a bit. Some episodes might feel slower than expected and TVF’s familiar framework is obvious sometimes. It’s a sincere show with a lot of heart, but one can’t ignore the familiar beats of TVF’s other shows.
