Gen V First Look: The Boys’ Spinoff Leaves Young Supes Drenched in Blood

Prime Video is set to debut a new and young class of superheroes in the spinoff Gen V developed by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, after having introduced our favourite bunch of morally grey supes in The Boys (based on the comic books of the same name). The OTT platform released the first look of the upcoming series slated for its premiere next year. The visuals of the same are bloody and gut-wrenching as the storyline puts these young supes-in-training through hell at Vought International’s Godolkin University, a not so “safe space for you to thrive”.

The college themed track of the series also welcomes back some familiar faces from the original show, whose success paved the way for the new generation. Paul Jeffrey Byrne, playing the Dawn of the Seven director Adam Bourke, Jessie T. Usher as the blue speedster A-Train and Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, Vought’s new Vice President are some of those recognisable faces to join alongside the latest group of cast members including az Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Shelley Conn, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Patrick Schwarzenegger, and more.

The show’s title surfaced in July 2022, and its setting, Godolkin University is reminiscent of Charles Xavier or Professor X’s safe haven reserved for young mutants in X-Men. Talk about college being hellish, nothing can prepare us for the tormenting storm that awaits these youngsters at Uni. Here’s to hoping none of them turn out like Homelander (no offence to any Homelander supremacists).

In addition to the spinoff, The Boys Season 4 starring Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Karen Fukuhara, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Colby Minifie and Claudia Doumit is also scheduled for its comeback in 2023. Some newcomers, already been confirmed for the season are Rosemarie Dewitt (as Hughie Campbell’s mother), Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Cameron Crovetti as Ryan, Susan Hayward as Sister Sage and Valorie Curry as Firecracker.
