Dr Stone Season 4 Episode 1 Review And Recap

Dr Stone Season 4 Episode 1 Review

The very first episode of this season transports us to the middle of the sea, where Senku and his crew are currently setting sail towards America. Their next goal is reaching the moon because the culprit who turned the entire population into stone statues might be living there. As this project is a huge one, they will need more materials in their arsenal from all around the world. This is why their first stop is America, from where Senku expects to obtain enough alcohol to mass produce revival fluid.

However, there is a huge problem at hand. A massive creative and scientific decision-making difference between the Lord of the Sea and the Lord of Science takes place. According to Ryusui, traveling in a straight line and reaching their destination in 70 days is better, whereas, according to Senku, going on a curved path and reaching their destination in 40 days is what must be done.

This also boils down to what these two individuals think is important on the grand scale. Ryusui does not want his crew to be fatigued and overworked. Plus, he also knows the great circle sailing route that Senku is suggesting can be the hardest to steer. However, Senku points out how there will be no meaning if they take 70 days as, by then, all the corn that he wishes to obtain for making alcohol will already be lost to winter. If they want their plan to succeed, they must reach the goal within 40 days, otherwise they will have to wait another year.

When these two cannot reach a middle ground, they finally resort to a way that can make anyone a loser and a winner. Hence, rather than having a fistfight, they settle for a duel of poker.

Dr Stone Season 4 Episode 1 Review

Today’s episode had more random moments instead of planned, calculated ones. While this did not make it a great episode, the randomness was still fun and kept us entertained.

The animation is, as usual, pretty good, and the opening and ending songs keep the vibe of the Dr Stone franchise alive.

Verdict

Dr Stone Season 4 Episode 1 Review

This episode was not very serious or logical, and it is clear the makers did not intend for you to take it as seriously, either. It was supposed to be light-hearted so that we have a smoother entry to the last season of this anime. I believe more profound and science-specific stuff will come soon, so stay tuned for the next episodes.
