American Primeval Ending Explained
Sara and her son Devin are trying to escape from the family who has put a bounty on them after Sara kills the son of the family. With a hope of finding safety with her husband who is in Crooks Spring and even though the road till there is not an easy one, she is adamant about reaching her destination. While many decline her request to be guided there, Sara has no choice but to risk the lives of her and her son with a group of Mormon travellers and proceeds on her journey.
However, their group is attacked by a group of people wearing masks and pretending to be Indians, but are actually from the Mormon Militia who are trying to blame the natives. Sara and Devin escape with the help of Issac Reed who had been following them, and Two Moons (a Shoshone girl who escaped her home by getting in Sara’s carriage). The four soon group together and make their way to Crooks Spring while being chased by a group of bounty hunters.
Meanwhile, the tension between the military, the Mormon Militia and the natives rises as the Mormon’s plan to blame the natives is slowly working. However, the military is sure that the Mormons are behind this and are looking for clues against them. As the tension continues to rise, the survival of the Pratt couple poses a danger to the Mormons who are now aiming to kill the two because they serve as witnesses to their schemes.

What Happens to the Mormons?
After Abish Pratt escapes from the military base and returns to the Shoshone tribe, she warns them that the Mormons are trying to kill her because she knows their truth. Meanwhile, the Captain at the military base tries to send a request for reinforcements, unaware that the man carrying the message is a traitor who takes the letter to the Mormons. While he waits for reinforcements, the Mormons attack their base and kill everyone including the traitor.
Later, Abish sees the scene and tells Red Feather and the Shoshones that the Mormons are coming for her. The Shoshones are hell-bent on fighting for her safety and gather together to attack back when the Mormons come for them. Unknown to Abish, her husband Jacob Pratt has returned to the Mormons and is fighting for them. Finally, when the Mormon attack comes by, Abish fights alongside the Shoshones and ends up getting killed at the hands of her husband who had been desperately looking for her.
Meanwhile, Red Feather and many other Shoshones are also killed by the Mormons. The news of this soon reaches Brigham Young (the leader of the Mormons) who is pleased by the news while he takes over Jim Bridger’s fort and burns it to the ground. Thus, begins the rule of the Mormons in the Utah region and begins the year-long Utah War.

Does Sara Reach Crooks Spring?
After a long journey filled with danger, Sara along with Devin, Issac and Two Moons is nearing Crooks Spring when Devin’s horse gets out of control and ends up injuring him. Issac rushes everyone to a nearby house where he once lived and is barely able to save Devin’s leg. As Devin recovers enough for them to continue their journey, Sara is caught by Virgil Cutter, the bounty hunter who has been chasing the group.
Meanwhile, Issac senses something is wrong when bullets are fired at their cabin. He fights back and finds out that Sara has been taken away. He hands Two Moons a gun and leaves to find Sara. He finally finds her and after a fight with Virgil and his group, he escapes with Sara; but misses out on one man- Lucas. The two then return to the cabin and set out to finish their journey the next morning.
However, Sara is not ready to let go of Issac and tries to get him to escape to California with them. Issac refuses her and Sara tells him that they can enter town without him. The two share a heartbreaking kiss after which their paths separate. However, Issac finds suspicious marks on the ground and rushes back to the group only to see Lucas threatening them. He rushes into a fight and kills Lucas, but is also shot.
Taking his last breath in this place, he closes his eyes and Two Moons gives him a funeral adhering to the Shoshone tribe’s rituals. Saying goodbye to the person she loves, she looks at the town that is within her reach. But she no longer wishes to find her husband and turns to go to California with her son and Two Moons. Thus, finding herself on another journey with a new destination to reach.

Will there be a Season 2?
While the story of Sara and her adventure may have come to an end, the story of 1857 America or the Utah War has just begun. So while the story may seem to have come to an end, there is a door open to witnessing what happens to the Mormons after the chaos that they have created. However, there is no news of the same yet so we do not know if there will be American Primeval season 2 as of now.
