Death’s Game Episode 1 Preview: The upcoming South Korean web series Death’s Game (이재, 곧 죽습니다) features Seo In-guk and Park So-dam in lead roles. Adapted from a 2019 Naver webtoon of the same name written by Lee Won-sik and illustrated by Ggulchan, the storyline revolves around an individual embarking on a new life entangled with frustration and death. Directed and written by Ha Byung-hoon, the series is set to consist of 8 episodes.

Director Byung-hoon revealed on January 2023, that the production has entered its final casting phase, and filming is set to commence in early February, spanning approximately six months. Dexter Studios also confirmed their involvement in co-producing the series’ visual effects, with a comprehensive budget of ₩3.3 billion.

Death’s Game Plot

In the series, Choi Yi-jae finds himself on the brink of a downward spiral, facing death and reincarnation 12 times under Death’s judgment. Growing up in a financially strapped family, Yi-Jae possessed a bright and kind demeanour. However, after seven years of fruitless job searches, he’s overwhelmed by desperation and despair, leading him to contemplate suicide. Thinking it’s the end, he encounters Death, standing at the gates of Hell. Instead of oblivion, Yi-Jae is handed a punishment: he must endure death 12 more times, inhabiting different bodies. To escape the clutches of Hell, survival becomes his only way out.

Death’s Game Cast

The diverse ensemble includes Seo In-guk as Choi Yi-jae, who takes on the role of a man whose will to live dwindles after seven years of unsuccessful job hunting. Park So-dam embodies Death, a mysterious entity condemning Yi-jae to 12 cycles of death and rebirth, ultimately leading to hell. Go Youn-jung portrays Lee Ji-su, a novelist entangled in a long-standing relationship with Yi-jae since their college days. Kim Ji-hoon steps into the character of Park Tae-woo, the first son and CEO of Taekang Group.

Some special appearances include Lee Do-hyun, Sung Hoon, Jang Seung-jo, Lee Jae-wook, Kim Jae-wook, Choi Si-won, Kim Kang-hoon, Yoo In-soo, Oh Jung-se, Kim Sung-cheol and Ryeoun.
