Daytime Emmy Awards 2026 Winners: The 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards were celebrated in Los Angeles on October 30, 2026, recognising some of the biggest names and productions in daytime television.
Daytime Emmy Awards 2026 Winners
With no traditional host, the Daytime Emmy Awards 2026 held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles celebrated excellence and craft across daytime television. Presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS), the ceremony recognised achievements across daytime dramas, talk shows, entertainment news, culinary programmes, lifestyle and travel shows.
This year’s ceremony brought some of the most familiar faces of the industry alongside newer performers and creative teams receiving recognition for their work. While General Hospital and Beyond the Gates seemed to be leading the soap operas, Genie Francis received the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Scott Clifton added to his existing rare Daytime Emmy acting trifecta.
General Hospital Wins Big at the 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards
General Hospital seemed interested in leaving a mark in the ceremony, winning the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series for the sixth year, taking the overall tally in the category to 19 wins. The show also won Outstanding Writing Team for a Daytime Drama Series, recognising the team responsible for actually putting the many storylines the show has together.
The show did not stop there and moved on with Jeff Kober winning the third for the show for Outstanding Guest Performance in a Daytime Drama Series for his Cyrus Renault. This win adds another achievement to his journey with the show General Hospital, as he won the same recognition in 2022. The show also won an award for its brilliant casting: Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series.
Beyond the Gates Joins the Victory
Beyond the Gates had a successful evening, especially considering the soap was in its first Emmy eligibility. The series that premiered in February 2025 also took away four awards, including Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress for Anita Williams Dupree, played by Tamara Tunie. Her win was another rather significant moment for the sector, as she previously spent more than two decades in daytime television.
Ambyr Michelle also won Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series for her Eva Thomas. The show also received recognition for the craft that goes beyond narration and storytelling, for its lighting and direction, hairstyle and makeup. The awards received were Outstanding Lighting Direction for a Daytime Drama Series, and Outstanding Hairstyling and Makeup for a Daytime Program.
Genie Francis Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Genie Francis was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards, recognising her contribution to daytime television for nearly five decades. The actor joined General Hospital as Laura Spencer in 1977 as a 14-year-old and has remained one of the most recognisable faces since.
Her character’s relationship with Luke Spencer, played by Tony Geary, was one of daytime television’s most memorable romances, and their on-screen wedding in 1981 reportedly remains the most-watched daytime television event in history. The honour was presented by her husband, Jonathan Frakes, which was an emotional moment in the celebration.
Scott Clifton Adds to the Rare Trifecta
While General Hospital and Beyond the Gates seem to have had plenty to celebrate, Scott Clifton also had a grand night. The actor won Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actor for playing Liam Spencer in The Bold and the Beautiful.
Clifton was competing against some familiar daytime television veterans, including Eric Braeden for The Young and the Restless, Steve Burton for General Hospital, Thorsten Kaye for The Bold and the Beautiful and Christian Jules LeBlanc for The Young and the Restless.
This victory for Clifton carries a significance beyond just an addition to his trophy shelf, as with this win, Scott Clifton, the actor who has won across all three acting categories at the Daytime Emmy Awards: Younger Performer, Supporting Performer and Lead Performer, again won the Lead Performer award nine years later. Having previously won in the three categories, Clifton has completed the rare trifecta with a total Emmy count of four.
The Young and the Restless Also Take Home Major Wins
The Young and the Restless had its share of wins, with Beth Maitland receiving Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress for her role as Traci Abbott, while Roger Howarth won the Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actor category for Matt Clark.
The show also won the award for Outstanding Costume Design/Styling for a Daytime Program, led by costume designer Mandi Line and her team and thus the tally count of awards for the show was three, which was one less than the top two, which received a total of four awards. Meanwhile, Days of Our Lives won Outstanding Directing Team for a Daytime Drama Series in the 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards.
Other Major Wins of the Night
Outside the soap opera, The Kelly Clarkson Show won Outstanding Daytime Talk Series, while Sherri Shepherd received Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host for Sherri after the show concluded in May 2026. Entertainment Tonight won Outstanding Entertainment News Series, Ina Garten was awarded Outstanding Culinary Host for Be My Guest With Ina Garten, and Tracee Ellis Ross won Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program for Solo Travelling With Tracee Ellis Ross.
General Hospital retained its winning streak; Genie Francis was recognised for her vast career with the Lifetime Recognition Award, and there were several other wins giving the 2026 Daytime Emmy Awards reasons for soap opera fans to celebrate. The wins for Beyond the Gates also showed that daytime television continues to make space for new shows, performances, performers, craft and art, along with keeping the space for the old ones intact and thereby giving the fans a lot to discuss.
