Dandadan Episode 3 Review: The third episode of Dandadan or Dan Da Dan (ダンダダン) is here, and we are again treated to a masterpiece. Let’s discover how this episode plays out.

Dandadan Episode 2 Recap
The episode opens with Ayase insisting that Ken stop using his real name around her. Her reasoning? She adores the actor Ken Takakura, and sharing the name with a geek she’s recently become involved with is unsettling for her. Despite this, the two head to Ayase’s house to meet her grandmother, hoping to evaluate their situation and figure out their next steps. However, they find themselves embarking on even more unexpected adventures at the house.

We’re also introduced to yet another mysterious, banana-loving entity that defies easy classification as either a ghost or alien. But the standout moment of this episode is Ken’s transformation—not only in his looks but also in his attitude and voice. We witness the emergence of an overpowered version of Ken Takakura, though, amusingly, his newfound abilities lead him to become lethargic and deeply melancholic rather than the usual confident hero.
Dandadan Episode 3 Review

In this episode, we were supposed to meet the infamous grandma of Momo, who also happens to be a psychic and shaman. But I kid you not, she is one hell of a grandmother who is just too cool to be called an old hag like Momo occasionally does. Not only is she a fashionista, but she is also a very good psychic with a golden tongue, whose proof we get later in the episode.
However, her most legendary feature is definitely the fact that she can kick some ass with her baseball bat. Fiercely protective of her grandchild, when she comes across the abomination that Okarun was after becoming consumed by Turbo Granny, she beats the shit out of our hero.

From her, we also get some insight into how her powers work and how she can quickly set barriers that can protect humans as well as hurt spirits. Later, she is also the one who finally comes up with a plan that can help Okarun get his ‘thing’ back. But we discover that what they are dealing with might not just be a normal Turbo Granny spirit. Apparently, she might have fused herself with a location-bound spirit and become more powerful than ever. A location-bound spirit is absolutely undefeatable in their own area, hence, to defeat her, Momo and Okarun must lure her out of her den.

This episode was again high-paced and extremely entertaining, which does not leave you unsatisfied even for a moment. The colours, the animation, the background music, everything is there to keep you engaged with the content. The entry of Granny is nothing short of iconic, and you can feel that she is the Sensei that every Shounen anime needs to give out her knowledge and train the next generation.
I also love how subtly this anime incorporates very small doses of high-quality chemistry between the characters. It not only makes us ship them but also makes us agree just how perfect they are together. Both Momo and Ken or Okarun are a joy to watch, and I am sure their journey to attain more power will be a treat to watch.

Verdict
Today’s episode was again absolutely brilliant, and I enjoyed every bit of it. This is definitely my favourite anime of this season because here, I can always expect something new and out-of-the-box. If you have not started watching this show, you are missing out on a legendary shounen. So, without further ado, just watch this.
