Captivating the King Episode 11 Recap
Hee-soo informs King Lee In about the princess swap right in the moment when the Principal Director arrived to meet the King and make the big complaint. Myung-ha worries about Hee-soo as he knows there is going to be a big consequence. Moreover, Hyun-bo hints that they know Maid Bun-yeong replaced Princess Jang-ryeong.
The King becomes furious upon learning he’s been deceived once again by Hee-soo despite forgiving her all the time. Hee-soo reveals that the principal director found out when a court lady informed Queen Dowager of Bun-yeong’s (the maid) absence. Lee In threatens Hee-soo, but she knows he loves her to not hurt her, so she stands bravely. She also mentions that Interpreter Jung never saw the real princess, pressing that the maid be sent on behalf of the real princess.

Principal Director Park Jong-hwan intercepts the bridal convoy but cannot see Bun-yeong’s face. He realizes she’s fake as the real princess wouldn’t hide her face but doesn’t know who the girl is and how she even looks. He tells the King, hoping to arrest Mong-woo/Hee-soo, Myung-ha, and Grand Prince Mun-seong. He claims Interpreter Jung knows, and Lee In calls Hee-soo to testify. She witnessed Jung meeting with the fake princess and approving.
The King covers up the princess swap, angering the principal director, who threatens to involve Prince Rui. The King however hints at execution if the truth comes out. Sang-hwa warns Myung-ha and Eunuch Kim to stay quiet. Queen Dowager tries to get information from Lady Dong but faces refusal unless she gets something in return.

Hyun-bo, annoyed by the King covering up the matter, decides to fabricate evidence of a conspiracy involving Mong-woo, Myung-ha, and Munseong against the King. The King orders the Chief Royal Secretary to find a safe house for Princess Jang-ryeong in Beijing. He plays baduk with Munseong, teaching him how to govern peacefully.
To create more ruckus, the principal director tells Mong-woo that the King sacrificed him (Mong-woo) for the throne and also cut Hang-soon down without even bothering about his return. All these make Hee-soo confused and her anger once again rises. On her way home, the King catches her and expresses his feelings. He asks Hee-soo to stay beside him and that he will explain everything to her soon.

Hee-soo then meets Dal-ha, who stirs her anger even more by bringing out the King’s betrayal. Hee-soo however asks more time to execute their plan of bringing the King down. As part of their plan, they involve Kim Je-nam in court, and the King appoints him Inspector General. Je-nam backs out from Hee-soo’s plan to put Munseong on the throne, stating that the King is a kind man, not a puppet. Hee-soo remains determined to make a move when the Principal director attempts to steal the throne.
Meanwhile, Munseong keeps the Queen (the King’s sick wife) company. She asks Mong-woo how she can help, and Mong-woo suggests making him the Crown Prince to prevent harm (since they have no child anyway). In the end, Hee-soo goes to the King with her decision to be by his side, and they hug. Just then, thunder strikes and the palace catches fire.
Captivating the King Episode 11 Review
It’s so sad to see Hee-soo stuck between love and war. She loves the King and knows he is a kind man but as there are no convincing evidence, she’s furious at him for betraying. Her courtesan friend died due to the punishment of the King. However he had his reasons to carry out the punishment. Though it doesn’t justify his actions, Hee-soo is still unclear of what exactly happened three years ago. So many want to bring the King down and he only trusts Sang-hwa and Hee-soo.

If either one of them deceives him, he’ll be shattered to death. By the looks of it, he will face his karma though he is a kind man who sacrificed many people for the good. Hopefully, we will be able to accept what the future episodes bring.
