2023 has gotten the Hindi film industry rolling again and here we have for you 7 Bollywood movies releasing in December that are sure to get you pumped up. Post the COVID pandemic, there was a complete drop in footsteps at movie theatres for obvious reasons. OTT received the spotlight and the fun that watching a movie at the theatre brought was totally gone. It took more than a year to come out of that vacuum. But things are getting back to normal now and this list is heavy proof.
The following 7 Bollywood movies are each of a different kind, featuring the top artists in the industry. From comedy to action to thriller, we will be getting all of these. That’s what makes me happy. And what ups the ante is that each of these movies is helmed by people who have proved their mettle as directors/writers. If you don’t believe me, have a look.
7 Bollywood Movies Releasing in December
Animal
Ranbir Kapoor’s last so-called action flick Shamshera tanked at the box office. However, his upcoming movie Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, will show him a never-before-seen avatar which might just help him claim an action hero title. The pre-teaser has him fighting a horde of guys with an axe. The title of the movie itself points to the kind of character he will be playing. Clearly, he will be bloody. The movie will be released on December 1, 2023.
Sam Bahadur
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Sam Bahadur is based on the life of decorated Indian army officer Sam Manekshaw who was also the first officer to be promoted to a Field Marshal rank. Vicky Kaushal will be taking on the role. From the Release Date Announcement video and a picture of him that were dropped earlier, they prove that he has managed to nail the look. Considering Gulzar’s directing prowess (Chhapaak, Raazi, Talvar), the movie is surely going to be one of the year’s biggest releases and blockbusters. The film will be released on December 1, clashing with Animal.
Fukrey 3
One of the most beloved franchises of Hindi movie lovers, is coming back to the big screen with its third part. The original three “Fukreys”, namely Honey (Pulkit Samrat), Chucha (Varun Sharma) and Lali (Manjot Singh), will be back along with Richa Chadha as Bholi Punjaban and Pankaj Tripathi as Pandit. Surprisingly we will also have Farhan Akhtar in a yet undisclosed role. Now this will add to the fun or should I say confusion? Directed by Mrighdeep Lamba who helmed the first two parts as well, this movie too will release on December 1.

Untitled Shahid-Kriti Movie
In a yet-untitled “robotic” romance drama, we will have Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. Scheduled for release on December 7, 2023, has been written and directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah. While we do not anything else about this movie, it will obviously be set in the future. I’m getting strong Love Story 2050 vibes. Is that a good thing? I don’t know.
Yodha
Yodha is going to be an action thriller with Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role alongside Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna. Written by Sagar Ambre (assistant director Pathaan, script Uri: The Surgical Strike) and directed by Pushkar Ojha (assistant director Pathaan, War) the movie will deal with an aeroplane hijack with an Indian soldier onboard (Sidharth) who will keep the passengers safe while dealing with the whole situation. Since the leading actor has already played a soldier in Shershaah, we can say that he will be able to pull off this role with the same conviction. The movie will come out on December 15.
Merry Christmas
This one is what I am most excited about. Directed by one of my all-time favourite directors Sriram Raghavan (Andhadhun, Badlapur, Johnny Gaddaar), Merry Christmas will star Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in lead roles. Carrying strong thriller vibes, the movie will deal with the events of a single day i.e. December 25. That’s all we know for now and I just can’t wait for the trailer to drop. P.S.- Anurag Kashyap is also in the movie. It will be releasing on the same date as Yodha, i.e. December 15.
Dunki
What will be Shah Rukh Khan’s third film this year, Dunki is his long-time-coming venture with director Rajkumar Hirani. Starring alongside SRK are Taapsee Pannu and Boman Irani. The movie will deal with “Donkey Flight”, an illegal route used by Indians to move to the USA and Canada. Naturally, it will have humour along with other stuff. The movie will hit theatres on December 22.
