Black Knight Poster: Kim Woo-bin, Song Seung-heon, Esom and More to Star in Dystopian Netflix Series

Black Knight Poster unveils an upcoming Netflix series that is set in a future world where even the air has a price. The Korean title reads택배기사 which can be literally translated to the delivery driver and is based on Lee Yoon-gyun’s popular webtoon Delivery Knight. It is written and directed by Cho Ui-seok and produced by Project 318 for Netflix.

The cast of the series includes Kim Woo-bin as delivery driver 5-8, Esom as Seol-ah, Kang Yoo-seok as Sa-wol, Song Seung-heon as Ryu Seok, Kim Eui-sung, Jin Kyung, Lee Hak-joo, Lee Sang-hee and Yu Seong-ju.

The sci-fi story is set in the year 2071 when air pollution has become so serious that people depend on respirator masks to breathe. Only one per cent of the human race has survived, and a strict social stratification has been established in the deserted lands of the Korean Peninsula. In a world without breathable air, it has become a commodity that has to be bought and delivered by special drivers called black knights.

Delivery drivers play a crucial role within this system, and for refugees, becoming delivery driver is their only hope for survival. The series reimagines the profession of a delivery person into a unique group responsible for the survival of the human race. Amid all the chaos, Black Knight tells the story of a legendary delivery driver 5-8 with exceptional battle skills and played by actor Kim Woo-bin.

Along with him is a refugee Sawol who dreams of following in his footsteps and is played by Kang Yoo-seok, who starred in another popular Netflix series Start-Up and other works like Light on Me, Once Again and more. While E Som plays Seol-ah, a military officer at the Defense Intelligence Command, who saves Sawol’s life and cares for him like her own family. Her one of recent works includes the film Samjin Company English Class and Taxi Driver Season 1.

Cast member Song Seung-heon plays the role of Ryu Seok, the only heir to the Cheonmyeong Group that rules the world with oxygen as a weapon. Presumably, he will be the antagonist who will commodity oxygen for his own benefit rather than helping the surviving group of humans.

In the poster released by Swoon Netflix, the world is depicted in shambles with all the buildings breaking apart and in barren condition. In the centre of it stands the vehicle which almost looks like a military vehicle with protection, probably used by the delivery drivers to keep safe the oxygen and deliver it to the right person. A helmet-like mask is right in front of it which is worn when stepping out.

Black Knight will be released globally on Netflix this year.
