Bholaa Twitter Review: Audience Praises ‘Kaithi’ Remake for Action Sequences, Yet Comparisons Bring It Down

After stepping in as director for his 2022 film Runway 34, Ajay Devgn is again majorly reeling in positive traction for his new release as seen in the Bholaa Twitter reviews. Serving as the official Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil movie Kaithi directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Devgn’s rendition also stars Tabu, Sanjay Mishra, Deepak Dobriyal, Gajraj Rao, Vineet Kumar, and Amala Paul.

Aamil Keeyan Khan, Ankush Singh, Sandeep Kewlani and Shridhar Dubey have contributed for the screenplay, while Ajay Devgn Ffilms, Reliance Entertainment, T-Series Films and Dream Warrior Pictures have produced it.

The 2023 film revolves around the titular character making it out after ten years of imprisonment and returning to his young daughter. However, despite having been through a lot, several new and even more arduous and life-endangering hurdles await him in the near distance on his way.

Since the movie was officially announced as the remake of a previously released film that appealed to a huge mass following, it was obvious that comparisons with the source would follow the premiere. And so they have. While many viewers got engrossed in the action sequences built out through the entire runtime, others took an interest in the acting abilities of the great cast, having joined the film.

However, a common observation from the reactions recorded on Twitter notes that people greatly missed an emotional connection with the storyline and its execution. Many of those who’d already watched Kaithi before checking out Bholaa realised that several scenes of both these films were like mirror images. But, the latter fell short in conveying the same extent of emotionality as was captured in the former original piece of cinematic entry.

Endless praise for Devgn as a director was quite loud on the platform, with positive affirmations for Deepak Dobriyal and Sanjay Mishra’s acting also rising above. All in all, the audience seemed satisfied with their theatrical outing for this Hindi flick. Still, Kaithi’s pre-established success and originality weighed the remake down, as many users continued to assert that the 2019 Tamil movie starring Karthi in the lead role had already served its purpose. In that sense, Bholaa will always come second in a race meant for these two.

Devgn‘s theatrical as well as acting comeback can now be witnessed in theatres.
