Apartment 404 Episode 4 Recap

In episode 4, the viewers and the cast were transported to 1970 – the time when South Korea was all about economic and infrastructural progress. Due to Jung-ha being absent from the cast, TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Yeonjun became a member for one day. They were divided into two teams- with Jennie as the police, Yoo Jae-suk as the mayor and Cha Tae-hyun as the customs officer, making the public officials. While Oh Na-ra, TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s Yeonjun and Yang Se-chan were the traders.

The episode was based on the real story of the Wau Citizen Apartment Complex where a a string of officials were bribed by unlicensed builders to build a big apartment complex as there was a tight budget and limited construction time, to empty the shanty town. This caused several activities – using cheap and unsafe materials, building the complex on a 60-degree hill slope, etc. All these issues caused the building to collapse on April 8, 1970, costing many lives.

They had to play the life-size version of bingo, using items hidden around the area, which was used to mark the square. They got 100,000 KRW to use as a way to trade for items and they also got monetary prizes for each square marked. In the end, the winning team got 10 times the money they managed to collect by the end of the game.

To make it tougher, the public officials had to stop them from completing the squares. If any places were not marked, the public officials would win. Jennie and Jae-seok, as the police and mayor, were allowed to run around and stop any traders from delivering their items to the customs officer A.K.A Tae-hyun. Through multiple rounds of betrayal, bribery and chaos- the traders managed to complete all the squares, making them the winning team. However, each member asked to return a lump sum of their winnings without explaining.

While Yeonjun, Se-chan and Tae-hyun refrained from forking over the money and the others did- making Jennie, Na-ra and Jae-seok the ultimate winners of the game.

The upcoming episode takes a darker turn as we transport to 1991! The chaos ensues as Jung-ha returns and they find themselves amid a suspicious case. With many apartment residents kneeling over and foaming at the mouth, it seems that the 6 members will be coming across an incident that they have never experienced on the show before.

Portrayed as the shocking case of 1991, the cast is constantly on the run to find the culprit behind the incidents of the residents falling sick unexpectedly. With each of them being suspicious of each other, hilarity ensues as they stop each other from finding the mastermind.
