Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian Episode 7 Review Alya's New Rival

In this episode, Yuki’s playful nature is on full display. It kicks off with her suddenly requesting Alya’s company for an important discussion about the student council budget. However, Alya has her own agenda and directly questions Yuki’s intentions towards Kuze. Seizing the opportunity to tease Alya, Yuki dramatically confesses that Kuze is the person she loves most in the world, phrasing it in a way that sounds like romantic love, though we know better. Alya, feeling provoked, declares that she won’t let anyone take Kuze away from her. Despite the tension, this interaction leads to an unexpected bond between Yuki and Alya, with Yuki even asking Alya if she can start calling her by her first name.

Meanwhile, in the council room, Masha’s passion for tea is highlighted as she serves it to others. Alya, still flustered by Yuki’s earlier confession, becomes noticeably more clingy with Kuze, much to Yuki’s amusement. Kuze quickly deduces that his mischievous sister is behind Alya’s behaviour.

To smooth things over, Kuze later invites Alya for a meeting to strategize her campaign for the next election.

Today’s episode starts with a bit more information about Kuze and his family background. The girl who was to support Yuki, Ayano, sought an audience with Kuze and put him in a spot with some difficult questions. She reminded him how his grandfather did not like the fact that he was opposing his sister, Yuki. She also asks him why he is following the lead of Yuki’s enemy rather than helping her. From this conversation, one thing is clear, Kuze does not outright tell everyone about his sister because of his complicated family background. But we also learn that he wants to support Alya because it is his decision entirely, and that does not mean he hates his sister.

In this episode, we also discovered more about Ayano’s personality, which resembles that of a knight or a samurai. She has deep idolization for both Kuze and Yuki, and her devotion towards them is unparalleled. Apparently, her grandfather used to serve the Suou family for generations, and she, in turn, followed in their footsteps. She now serves Yuki directly after going through some pretty hard training under her grandfather’s care.

Not only her, but we also uncovered more about Kuze’s personality. Even though he first showcased himself as a slacker, he is more talented than his younger sister. Yuki even welcomed the fact that she would finally be able to have a proper fight with her brother, who has always been one step ahead in every field. He’s also pretty perceptive as he manages to call out Masha’s act of airheadedness in front of her sister being deliberate.

Thus, this episode really showcased just how multi-dimensional all the characters are in this series. Even Masha, who seems extra lax all the time, is not like that in reality.

But the ending might piss some people off, as we got a very rude and hateful character in this episode. We still do not know what her actual intention is for trying to rile Alya up by saying mean and rude things.

Verdict

Today’s episode was really interesting as we got a more detailed look into the psychology of the characters. The last girl soured the mood, but hopefully, she will be put in her place later.
