Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Overview
Alchemy of Souls season 2 (Alchemy of Souls Part 2: Light and Shadow/ 환혼: 파트2) is the sequel of the Korean historical drama series directed by Park Joon-hwa and starring Lee Jae-wook, Jung So-min, Hwang Min-hyun, Shin Seung-ho, Yoo Jun-sang, Oh Na-ra and Jo Jae-yoon, alongside other cast members.
The sequel brings the story 3 years after the tragic ending we witnessed in season 1, and with Go Yoon-jung joining the cast as the new female lead. As Jang Uk becomes a hunter of the soul-shifters, a young woman, a prisoner in her own home, seeks his help to reclaim her freedom.
Alchemy of Souls season 2 takes over tvN’s Saturday-Sunday 9:10 PM KST timeslot previously held by Under the Queen’s Umbrella.

tvN’s synopsis of the upcoming season reads: “Jang Uk returns from death, and three years later, the story of the mages unfolds anew. Jang Uk becomes a hunter of the soul-shifters when a young woman, a prisoner in her own home, seeks his help to reclaim her freedom.”

Naksu and Jang Uk spend their last moments together before she disappears, meanwhile, Jin Mu is ready to bring chaos everywhere with the king and the Unanimous Assembly’s support. While Go Won fails to put a stop to him this time, tragedy awaits Jang Uk at Songrim.
Thus, the flames of a battle are lit as the firebird awakens and Jin Bu-yeon makes her way into the midst of this war-like scene.
Alchemy of Souls Season 2 Episode 9 Recap
Alchemy of Souls season 2 episode 9 brings Jang Uk face to face with Naksu’s truth, however, the two come to a silent agreement to ignore this fact. Later, Jang Uk infiltrates Cheonbugwan with the help of Go Won and is able to kill the soul shifters while sending Jin Mu to Naksu who brings him to a painful yet slow death.
However, the queen and Seo Yoon-oh arrive to find Jin Mu on the brink of death and their arrival becomes an opportunity for him to shift his soul into Seo Yoon-oh’s body.
Jang Uk later follows Naksu to Danhyanggok where he finally calls her his heartless master and the two spend their last moments together. Unaware that a tragedy awaits him in Songrim.
