A League of Their Own Teaser: A 1992 Spin-Off Series, Starring Abbi Jacobson

A League of Their Own teaser is out now! It is an upcoming American period comedy TV series set to be released on amazon prime video. It is a spin-off adaptation of Penny Marshal’s 1992 film of the same name but with new characters and storylines. It is co-created by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson, who also stars in the series. The cast also includes Roberta Colindrez, Nick Offerman, Saidah Arrika Ekulona, Kate Berlant, Kendall Johnson, Kelly McCormack, Alex Désert, Priscilla Delgado, Aaron Jennings, Molly Ephraim, Melanie Field and Dale Dickey.

The description of the series reads as – ‘A League of Their Own evokes the joyful spirit of Penny Marshall’s beloved classic while widening the lens to tell the story of an entire generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball. The show takes a deeper look at race and sexuality, following the journey of a whole new ensemble of characters as they carve their own paths towards the field, both in the League and outside of it’.

The series will follow the story of the women who formed their own professional baseball league while the nation’s men were fighting in World War II. As one can see in the teaser that the women play baseball, and work on team build and bonding while also, taking care of their home life and odd workplaces in order to train hard and achieve their goal of playing professional baseball.

Apart from the inspirational story of coming together for the love of baseball, Graham and Jacobson decided to expand the topics explored to include racism faced by the players in the league, as well as the stories of lesbian players. They hired a researcher to gather detailed information about the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League and met with surviving players.

The teaser also revealed the date when the series will be premiered and it is scheduled to be released on 12 August 2022 on Amazon Prime Video.
