Task Episode 3 Recap

The episode opens with Robbie and Maeve having a conversation about why he did what he did, and it all comes down to getting revenge. Maeve is concerned for her uncle and the consequences of his actions, but he refuses to listen. Maeve, in the end, asks him to return Sam to his home. However, Robbie refuses, telling her that he will do so in a few days after he gets the money that he is owed.

Elsewhere, Tom is put under pressure to get some evidence or anything, as people are desperate for an answer, and Tom assures her that things will work out as the perpetrator will surely try to sell the pure fentanyl for a huge profit. Meanwhile, Jayson meets Freddy and asks for his help to apprehend the person who killed their family. In return, Freddy asks for 50% wholesale for the entire deal. Although Jayson and Perry are baffled, there aren’t many options for them in this scenario.

Eventually, we learn who the mole is in the Dark Hearts gang – Jayson’s partner, Eryn. Cliff is incensed with her, blaming her for putting them in danger and not giving them a good lead. However, Robbie tries to calm the situation down and she tells him that they can’t move the drugs yet because Jayson and Freddy came up with a deal. It’s here that we also learn why Eryn is backstabbing Jayson – she wants him to be thrown out of the gang because he killed Billy, who was having an affair with her.

With no other options, the two men have to come up with a way to get rid of the fentanyl, while Tom and his gang realise that the perpetrator must be a Dark Hearts member, as the gun that was used in the recent shooting was also used in a past shooting involving a rival gang. They go off to meet Jayson and Perry and tell them about the matching ballistic report, hoping for their help, but they are met with disappointment.

However, with the new information, Perry and Jayson immediately get to work and think about everyone who was there at Reading 7 years ago. Later, as Maeve takes care of Sam, Emily meets Ethan at the prison. The conversation is a bit awkward and quite heartbreaking, but Emily tries to keep things light for his brother’s sake. Meanwhile, Cliff and Robbie meet Ray, hoping that he can move the drugs for them, and he gives them Lee’s name to get the deed done.

Elsewhere, Aleah and Lizzie get a tip about Peaches bragging about running into a ton of money and robbing houses with Cliff and the two immediately get to work with Tom and Anthony. They decide to get into the house immediately in case Sam is inside, and the four get into a tussle with two other men who had broken into the home. They catch one of the men, but the other makes a swift exit as Lizzie gives chase. She is able to catch him eventually.

As it turns out, it’s Ray and Shelley who were trying to rob Cliff and get the fentalyn for themselves but their bad luck ended in them getting caught that night. Aleah and Lizzie try to coerce Shelley to talk and, after Aleah shares her own violent past, Shelley opens up to her. In the end, Ray, too, talks and tells them that there was someone else with Cliff, but isn’t able to give them a name.

With their identities leaked, Robbie and Cliff plan on making a swift exit out of state when they get a text from “Ray” to meet up at a nearby park. As they scope that out, Tom later learns that someone might be leaking intel to the Dark Hearts.

Another thrilling episode for Task as things start to unravel for everyone. With no other option but to run, I am invested to know what will happen to Sam in this situation. Considering Maeve has a soft spot of him, will they leave him behind or take him with them? Will they be able to escape at all? There are so many questions left unanswered, and as things get more and more intense, the series does a great job of holding down the tension while introducing some interesting twists and turns.
