Walking on Thin Ice Episode 2 Recap

The episode opens with a voiceover telling us that selling drugs in Korea is difficult and can often be a dangerous and complicated process. However, there’s always the lucky 10% who can do the impossible, and Kyung thinks of himself as different and is thus drawn towards Eun-soo’s claims.

He later takes her home to test the drug that she has brought, and the two eventually discuss whether or not they will be able to work together. Kyung later makes Eun-soo record a video of her holding the meth and assuring that she will provide the drugs to him, as a binding contract. Elsewhere, Do Kyu-man seeks vengeance for the lost meth that was solely made for VIPs and won’t stop before he gets his hands on it.

After the contract is read, Eun-soo immediately exits and is relieved to have gone through with it. Elsewhere, Kyu-man instructs Jun Hyeon to find the drug bag, or he will kill him and his friend. Kyung eventually finds out about the missing drug from the Phantom group and wonders whether he is rushing into a dangerous situation as he looks at his “murder board”, where it seems like he’s investigating Mimi, Kang Hwi-rim and the other high-profile party members.

That night, things take a turn at Mimi’s birthday, when Min-woo tries to force himself on Mimi and Kyung throws him out and then thrashes him. It bruises his ego, while Eun-soo looks on from afar in fear. He eventually gets into an accident, while things spiral inside the club after everyone gets high.

As the police arrive afterwards, Eun-soo rushes to find Kyung and warn him. He, of course, already has people waiting at his every call and starts to remove evidence. In the end, Tae-gu doesn’t find anything other than some wrappers, while Eun-soo meets Kyung and the two have a conversation. He asks her to sell her entire stash and later agrees to buy 1 kg from her.

He later calls his regular delivery person and gets confirmation that Eun-soo has the bag that was lost by the gang. He tests the two samples and is left amused at what she is doing. Later, when Su-ah returns to class, too, leaves Kyung amused, and he can’t help but smile as he joins the dots. Meanwhile, it turns out that Eun-soo and Dong-hyung work together, and he is yet to find out the person for whom he lost a finger is right in front of him.

I love the worldbuilding of Walking on Thin Ice, as it slowly but surely ramps up the tension throughout the runtime. With things slowly getting complicated, I appreciate that we are first learning about these characters, especially Lee Kyung, before diving into the revenge thriller part. Although a slower episode, and I didn’t care much for the lengthy club scenes, I enjoyed episode 2 regardless, as it gives us a look into what Eun-soo is up against. Things are about to get much more complicated for her, and I am here to see how she gets herself out of it.
