Tastefully Yours Episode 9 Review: Surprisingly Unimpressive

Last week, we left off with Beom-woo and Yeon-joo having a beautiful time at her childhood home with her aunt and spending the day decompressing. Unfortunately, Seon-woo lets it slip that his brother was here to steal her recipes.

Tastefully Yours Episode 9 Recap

The morning after the shocking revelation, things are tense at Jungjae, and Yeon-joo informs a confused Chun-seong and Myeong-sook that it’s just going to be the three of them from now on at the restaurant. Later on in the day, Myeong-sook asks for answers, and Yeon-joo opens up and simply tells them that Beom-woo deceived them. Meanwhile, a heartbroken Beom-woo quits Motto while Yeon-joo closes Jungjae for the time being.

Elsewhere, Yeo-ul deals a blow to Seon-woo, telling him to manage Motto for the time being and that she will shut La Lecel down. While Beom-woo drows in his sorrows, one of the guests from a previous episode decides to put Jungjae’s name in the Three Star Diamant list in a twist that anyone could’ve predicted. As Yeon-joo returns home to get some perspective and peace, Jungjae winning three stars reaches Yeo-ul, who looks extremely unhappy and fierce.

Thus, she meets Beom-woo and tells him to come back and handle Hansang, otherwise, she will destroy Jungjae and Yeon-joo. At the temple, Yeon-joo learns about the Diamant three stars as well as about the cook-off that she’s supposed to take part in!

Either way, Beom-woo returns to ask for Myeong-sook and Chun-seung’s help to help Jung-jae in the cook-off while Yeon-joo’s family at the temple convinces her to give Beom-woo a chance after he makes an appearance at the temple. On the day of the cook-off, Jungjae is prepared to fight it out without Yeon-joo, but will she really not come back to save her restaurant?

Ah, we have finally reached the end of Tastefully Yours, and I must say that, considering this is the penultimate episode, it’s quite underwhelming. Nothing really happens; the twist was quite predictable, and there’s nothing else in this episode of note. If you get rid of the Japan plot, it’s surprisingly simple and uncomplicated. And while I enjoy dramas that give me a good time, I guess I was expecting a little bit more from this one. Hopefully, tomorrow’s episode gives me some good vibes.
