Wistoria Wand and Sword Episode 2 Recap

This episode provides more background on how Will managed to secure a spot at the prestigious Regarden Magical Academy despite having no magic affinity. It’s remarkable that he wasn’t expelled earlier, given that the academy is specifically for Majes. Will’s entry wasn’t without difficulty; he faced severe criticism and bullying from his peers, who believed he was admitted only because of Elfaria, a prodigy who became a Magia Vander at a young age.

One significant moment occurs when Headmistress Cauldron summons Will and tests his sword skills by launching a powerful magic attack. Will not only saves his professor, Workner but also counters every move of the headmistress with his sword. Recognizing his potential, Headmistress Cauldron decides to admit him to the academy. However, this decision doesn’t sit well with everyone, especially Professor Edward. Edward has shown open disdain towards Will since the first episode, and witnessing Will’s true abilities only intensifies his irritation. Edward refuses to believe that someone armed with a sword can stand against, let alone defeat, a magician.

The headmistress challenges Edward to conduct his own test on Will. If Will passes, Edward must accept him; if Will fails, the headmistress will expel him. Edward eagerly takes up the challenge, unleashing brutal attacks on an unarmed Will.

This episode also provides more context about the tower and how one can reach its top, shedding light on Will’s motivation, which is rooted in his love for his childhood friend. Towards the end, Will manages to land a strike on Edward only with the help of his sword and even gains some credit to his name.
