We see extraterrestrial parasites descend to Earth, seeking power by hijacking human brains and bodies, sustaining themselves through their dead hosts. At the centre of the narrative is Jung Soo In, grappling with an alien parasite that has now become her second personality.

Meanwhile, Seol Kang Woo embarks on a quest to track down his vanished sister, tracing the trail of parasitic water. Leading the charge against this invasive threat is Choi Jun Kyung, spearheading the “The Grey” team dedicated to eradicating the parasites, driven by personal loss after her husband fell victim as well.

Chul-Min, or the evil mastermind parasite, decide to hunt other parasites so that no one can suspect him to be the main culprit. But he does this so that he can kill and then take over the mayor himself. If he manages to do that then he can influence lots and lots of people and also make important decisions.

This would have definitely helped him do mass slaughter and have a better reserve of food.

Kyung-Hee battles with the evil parasite when it is out of its host body. She tries to keep the parasite out of someone’s reach but at that very moment, gets shot by Won-Seok. Kang-Woo, almost forgetting that this is not his sister, asks Kyung-Hee if she will be fine. But the villainous parasite deals a final blow to her heart after she confesses that she is sorry towards Kang-Woo for killing his original sister. This showcases how the parasites do feel some sort of emotion to a certain degree.

The main antagonist parasite takes over the body of Inspector Won-Seok, and he then fights with Heidi. But at that moment, Jun-Kyung comes in and points her gun at Heidi. Thankfully, Jun-Kyung finds out that Won-Seok is the actual parasite by looking at his reflection, and she shoots him. On the other hand, Heidi also attacks Won-Seok’s other parasite, which tries to attack Jun-Kyung from behind.

What Happened to Other Parasites?

Most likely, there are more parasites that live in Korea. But they are keeping a low profile for now. We will see more of them in the 2nd season.

Who do we meet as the experts about the parasites?

Towards the end, we see a Japanese man coming to meet Jun-Kyung’s team, claiming to be a parasite expert. He introduces himself as Shinichi, the protagonist of the original Parasyte manga. Most probably, we will see more of him in the next season.
