The First Responders Season 2 Episode 7 Recap and Review: A Ticking Time Bomb

The First Responders Season 2 Episode 7 premiered on August 25, 2023, with a total runtime of 60 minutes. It is a new thriller K-drama series directed by Shin Kyung-soo and written by Min Ji-eun. The series (소방서 옆 경찰서) stars Kim Rae-won as Jin Ho-gae, Son Ho-jun as Bong Do-jin, and Gong Seung-yeon as Song Seol. The supporting and recurring cast includes Jung Jin-woo, Lee Jung-hu, Ji Woo, Jung Sang-hoon, Kang Gi-doong, Son Ji-yoon, Woo Mi-hwa, Seo Hyun-chul, Lee Hwa-jung, Jo Seung-yeon, Seo Jae-kyu, Lee Do-yub, Jo Hee-bong, Jeon Kuk-Hwan and more.

The second season premiered on SBS TV on August 4, 2023, and airs every Friday and Saturday at 10 pm KST, while the first season premiered on November 12, 2022, with a total of 12 episodes. The First Responders Season 2 takes over SBS’s Friday-Saturday 10 PM KST timeslot previously occupied by Revenant.

The episode starts with Song Seol meeting up with the Chief. They talk about the past instances that left both the departments rattled. However, they both try to heal and take their own time to do it. Song Seol also meets with Ho-gae at her apartment building, and they both make up to each other. They leave behind the bad memories and try to work cordially with each other from thereon.

Another case pops up for the police and the fire department. A group of gangsters start to cause a ruckus in an abandoned place. However, Ho-gae breaks up the fight by throwing water at them. As soon as everyone disperses, he sees that a dead body is left inside the car. As he looks closer, he finds out that the body has been tampered with.

The dead body is sent for autopsy, and the doctor finds some important revelations. She sees that the abdomen of the dead body is cut in half and sewed again. Moreover, she also finds something hard inside the stomach, which could mean that there is something left inside. However, she could not conduct a CT scan as the hospital’s scanner was sent for repair.

On the other hand, the police arrive at the fire department to meet the chief. The police informed them that she was being held accountable for neglecting her work and not assisting the ones working under her. The accusations infuriated the people inside the department. However, she was arrested on those counts.

During the autopsy, Doha found out that there was a bomb connected inside the body. He reached at the right time, but the bomb went off. The doctor lay on the floor unconscious, and a phone call came on everyone’s phone. A hacker started to blackmail them by saying that there were a lot more bombs attached in the room, and if they did not follow their instructions, it would go off.

The hackler threatened that they would harm the detective’s family. However, the detective took the phone and called the department. The department found a way to help the captured officers. A team was sent to rescue them, and Song Seol was also a part of it. The episode ends on that note.
