-The First Responders Season 2 Episode 4 Recap Contains Spoilers-

The fourth episode picked up from where the last one ended. As soon as Song Seol recognises the man in the elevator, he attacks her with a hammer. She lies on the ground with a pool of blood around her and is swiftly moved from the area by the man. He puts her in a secured location and carries on with his plan.

Meanwhile, the police figure out that the man is the ex-husband of the chief of the fire department. He is also an ex-fireman who was fired from his job for assaulting a citizen. Moreover, Ho-gae is informed that the man had ordered 30 candles which last up to 8 hours, which means that he had planned for another fire.

Ho-gae, along with Pil, heads over to the man’s house, and they find an elaborate map where he planned out every deliberate fire. After they find out the next location where he had been planning to cause a fire, they inform the police, and everyone rushes to the scene. The military squad also reach the site as a detonator from their base has been stolen, and the location directs towards the same location as the next location where the fire will occur.

The fire department’s chief comes in face to face with the man and asks him why he was doing that. He explains that after 4 of his colleagues died in a fire that was caused by the builders themselves, he swore to avenge them. In an attempt to take revenge, he planned all of the fires around the city and caused multiple deaths.

During the evacuation, the police started searching for the location of the bomb. They find out that Song Seol was tied up inside the elevator with a bomb attached to the door. Just then, Ho-gae figures that the candles and the gasoline were kept on top of the roof. He rushes to the rooftop, and the EOD tries to disarm the bomb.

Ho-gae reaches the rooftop and finds the man soaking himself in gasoline. He hits the man on the head with a fire extinguisher and heads inside the room to extinguish all the candles. On the other hand, the EOD also successfully disarms the bomb and saves Song Seol. The man is captured and taken into custody.

The man is seen in court and is punished severely for his crimes. Everyone else starts to get back into their daily routine lives. Additionally, Song Seol confesses her feeling to Ho-gae, and he reciprocates it back. However, after Do-jin’s death, she does not feel good about getting together with Ho-gae, so they leave it there.

Ho-gae and other officers receive a medal of honour for saving the citizens’ lives. Another case pops up, but it is different than others as the victim is a cat instead of a person. The episode ends on that note.

The First Responders Season 2 Episode 4 Review: Final Thoughts

The latest episode gives a satisfactory end to the serial arsonist case. The backstory of the criminal showcases the inadequacies of the government and the irresponsibility they showcase. Moreover, the first responders are not treated with enough respect for putting their lives on the line to save others. The actors have also done an incredible job at portraying their respective characters and enhancing the storyline with their individual touch.
