Netflix has announced a new Korean film titled My Name is Loh Kiwan, along with a list of the cast members. Leading the call sheet is Song Joong-ki who will be joined by Choi Sung-eun, Cho Han-cheul, Kim Sung-ryoung, Lee Il-hwa, Lee Sang-hee and Seo Hyun-woo, alongside other cast members.
My Name is Loh Kiwan will follow the story of a North Korean defector named Loh Ki-wan who comes to Belgium. He is introduced to Choi Sung-eun’s character, Marie, who is a professional shooter with Belgian citizenship. Following Jo Hae Jin’s novel I Met Loh Kiwan, the film will focus on their love story and how they got together in the most unpredictable circumstances.
Kiwan is in Belgium to get his refugee status so he can continue to live peacefully without the pressures of an oppressive life and regime. He is in the country with nothing to own, only his wits. Marie has no purpose in life anymore, she doesn’t know what this life entails for her now that she doesn’t want to live anymore. Cho Han-chul will be playing Marie’s father, Yoon Sung, while Kim Sung-ryoung will be playing Ok Hee, who becomes one of the reasons why Kiwan has to come to Belgium.

My Name is Loh Kiwan Cast Announcement
Lee Il-hwa will join the project as Marie’s mother, Jung Joo, while Lee Sang Hee joins the project as Sun Joo, a Korean immigrant who Kiwan meets at a factory in Belgium, and Seo Hyun-woo will play Loh Kiwan’s uncle Eun Chul. This is Song Joong-ki’s third project with Cho Han-cheul after Reborn Rich and Vincenzo. Additionally, Choi Sung-eun will be working with Han-cheul for a second time on this project after their performances in The Sound of Magic.
Song Joong-ki was last seen in Reborn Rich, where he played the dual role of an employee who dies at the hands of the owner of the company but is reincarnated as the youngest member of that family, ready to exact his revenge on them. It is a thriller with some serious drama. Before this, he also appeared in the drama Little Women for a short role.
However, his most popular and acclaimed role comes from the Netflix original Vincenzo, where he played the titular character, who comes to South Korea to see through to the end of a deal and make sure things don’t get bad back in Italy. The actor also has a film coming out this year titled Hwaran, where he plays a mid-level crime boss leading one of the younger recruits in his company.
This year and the next continue to be one of fruitful work for Song Joong-ki, who continues to be one of the most prolific actors in the industry, acting in films and drama equally regularly. My Name is Loh Kiwan will be coming to Netflix next year.
