Andor Episode 12 is finally out now, marking the season’s finale! Created by Tony Gilroy, the prequel series to the 2016 Star Wars spin-off Rogue One has Tony Gilroy, Dan Gilroy, Stephen Schiff and Beau Willimon as the writers for the show.
The show has an ensemble cast that has Diego Luna reprising his role of Cassian Andor aka Kassa along with Kyle Soller as Syril Karn, Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, Joplin Sibtain as Brasso, James McArdle as Timm Karlo, Rupert Vansittart as Chief Hyne, Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael, Fiona Shaw as Maarva Andor, Alex Ferns as Sergeant Linus Mosk, Gary Beadle as Clem Andor, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma and Denise Gough as Dedra Meero. The runtime of the twelfth episode is 54 minutes.
The finale episode is titled ‘Rix Road’ and the synopsis reads – “Targeted by numerous interests, the fugitive Cassian returns home to Ferrix, a tinderbox that is experiencing a spark of rebellion.”

In the last episode, we saw that Maarva dies, prompting a funeral ceremony for Ferrix, which Meero encourages in the hopes that Andor will attend. Vel informs Kleya about Maarva’s death and learns of Mon’s reluctant plan to marry off her daughter to secure funding through Sculdun.

Mon’s daughter Leida begins taking part in group gatherings related to Chandrilan culture and traditions, much to the distress of Mon and Vel. Karn also learns about the funeral from Mosk, and journeys to Ferrix. Saw Gerrera decides at the last moment to assist Kreegyr’s attack on Spellhaus but Luthen advises him against it, revealing that the ISB know about the impending assault.
While returning to Coruscant, Luthen escapes from an Imperial patrol, destroying several TIE fighters. Cassian and fellow prisoner Ruescott Melshi are able to escape from Narkina 5 and travel to Niamos to recover Cassian’s belongings. After Cassian discovers Maarva has passed, he and Melshi part ways, intending to publicly expose the Empire’s unjust prison system.
The latest episode starts off with a hushed conversation between Brasso and Xanwan about Cassian might be coming for the funeral. But will he really come there, is not sure and the question is troubling everyone from friends to foes. This is the moment when our heroes must take their next steps, none of which are easy.
But the conversation is overheard by Nurchi, who might pose a big hurdle in their plans as he seemed to have his own personal motives than for the bigger good. After much anticipation, Cassian returns to Ferrix for Maarva’s funeral and learns of Bix’s imprisonment from Brasso.
Meanwhile, Meero and the local Imperial garrison prepare to use the funeral to take in Andor alive for questioning regarding Luthen, whilst Luthen plans to kill him using the Imperial ambush, with Vel and Cinta’s assistance. With everyone looking out for a glimpse of him, he stealthily makes his way into the centre of the Empire, where people comfort him for his loss and warn him of the danger he is in but promises to help.
During the funeral, B2EMO displays a holographic recording of Maarva, giving an emotional speech to the people of Ferrix asking them not to admit defeat and to rise up against their oppressors – leading a riot in the main quarter. Taking the help of all the chaos, Cassian finds his way to Bix and escapes without getting caught.
Summing Up: Andor Episode 12
The finale episode of Star Wars: Andor shows that Bix, Brasso and others in a shipyard, fly off to a safer place. While Cassian promises to find them, he goes back to Luthen, knowing well enough that he was there to assassinate him. Cassian offers to either kill him or “take me in”, to which Luthen smiles and we could infer that he has joined the Rebel Alliance.
While the post-credit scene shows droids assembling the machinery produced by the Narkina 5 prisoners on the firing section of an Imperial superweapon or the Death star. This superweapon will ultimately kill Cassian and his Rebel Alliance ally in the Star Wars prequel film Rogue One, but there’s a lot to be covered before that in the upcoming season.
With Ferrix standing up against the Empire finally, our lead seems to be inspired by their fighting spirit and will take on the role of a true rebel hero, which will be the base for the further story. The ending has also built a character arc for Dedra, Syril, Bix, and Mon Mothma – that will be interesting to see what lies for them next.
