Reincarnated as a Sword Episode 7 Review and Recap – Finally Ranking Up
After the intense 6th episode of last week, we expected this episode to be milder in comparison. And yes, it was milder in many aspects, but still, it manages to set a solid foundation for the next episode.
Previously we saw an unknown man trying to prove Fran is a liar who is lying about the outcome of the crystal from the demon of the dungeon. He claims to have a skill with which he can easily sense whether someone is lying or not.
From the very beginning, you get the feeling that he is bad news, and our theory gets proven when Teacher analyses his skillset and reveals that what he’s saying is only partially true. August Allsand indeed can sniff out lies, but he can also make others believe in his lies. Thus, by using this skill, he shamelessly takes advantage of others. The fact that he is an aristocrat also adds to his snobbery and makes him a deceitful character who looks down upon non-nobles.

But Fran does not let him continue as he pleases, as she also makes sure to teach him a lesson that will forever change his destiny. This part of the anime is honestly not very intriguing or exciting. As an audience, we already know that August is a weak character who is not enjoyable enough to hold our attention.
The second half of the episode is also quite lighthearted as we witness how Teacher finally keeps his promise to cook for Fran. Throughout the anime, we have heard the protagonist boast of his culinary skills, now we finally see how good he is.
He manages to make a huge amount of dishes so that Fran can also have fresh food later when she will be out in the wild.
Here again, there’s nothing special going on which needs deep analysis as it just showcases how mundane yet valuable Fran and Teacher’s daily life is when not going on elaborate adventures.

The ending, however, was more intense compared to the entire episode and made us yearn for the next episode. We saw a mysterious figure whose face was not properly shown. She was also powerful enough to cut down multiple enemies single-handedly.
Verdict
This episode was average, with no big twists or turns. You do like to see the daily life of Fran and Teacher and how they interact with others, so it is not entirely uneventful. I love the fact that Fran is finally getting the due respect from everyone. The fact that she managed to level up so much also portrays her dedication and hard work. All in all, it is an episode that works best as a stepping stone for upcoming events. You can watch the series on HIDIVE.
