One Hundred Years of Solitude: First Look at Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s Defining Novel Adaptation

Netflix has released the in-preparation video for the Nobel Prize-winning Novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s adaptation on its official platforms. The one-minute fourteen seconds audio-visual adaptation clip features the recreation of the much-celebrated novel One Hundred Years of Solitude.

The production members involved in the making of the fictional town can be seen in the clip. Morever, the adaptation will be executively produced by the renowned author’s sons, Rodrigo and Gonzalo.

The clip starts with the opening paragraph of Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s masterpiece novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, which describes the time and place of the events, along with the fictional town of Macondo. It features several key elements from the book, including the shiny objects from the Gypsies, and the belongings of Ursula.

All the tiny details of the book can be seen in making and production, layered with an enriching voiceover. The adaptation promises to retain the element of originality from the Novel and adds several audio-visual components to the story. Morever, the clip also shows a miniature version of the town, along with Macondo’s central home.

Notably, the Spanish Novel was published in the year 1967 and received several accolades for the Columbian author. The book describes the multi-generation story of the Buendia family, based in the fictitious town of Macondo, which was founded by Jose Arcadio Buendia.

Gabriel Garcia’s novel is seldomly reffed as one of the best pieces of literature in the world. And is also regarded as the author’s personal best works, alongside Love in the Times of Cholera, and Chronicle of Death Foretold. Morever, the Novel also earned him accolades like Rómulo Gallegos Prize and Prix du Meilleur livre étranger.
