Trapped In A Dating Sim Episode 5 Review- A Little Less Awesome

Trapped In A Dating Sim Episode 5 Fight

It is a testament to the quality of the opening music of this show that ever since it was first unveiled in episode 2 as a part of the full package, I have been eagerly awaiting the release of the full version. Well, it was finally made available a little while after the fourth episode was released, and it was just as good in long-form as it is in short. Good opening music does a lot to get you pumped up and excited for a show, and this show understands that better than most shows going right now.

Since we started with the music anyways, let’s talk about the animation a little bit at the start as well. It seems to have taken a while for me to figure out why some people were so against this show’s animation. While I will stick to my guns in saying that the first four episodes were perfectly adequate, the fifth one left a lot to be desired on that front. It looked clunky and was far from smooth. The lips were desynchronised when the characters were talking, and the walking animation looked anything but realistic. Granted, most shows do take it a little easy after the initial burst of episodes, but a decline this sharp is cause for worry.

Prince Trapped In A Dating Sim Episode 5

Let’s talk about this episode’s plot and how overall weird it was. Leon faced off against the Prince’s cohorts and friends in the previous episode and kicked their asses one after the another in what was an extremely entertaining spectacle. His fight with the Prince was kept for last, and after watching it happen in real-time, it is hard to imagine why the show did that, except to leave the viewers wanting more. Well, people did want more, and what they got wasn’t exactly what they thought they were going to get.

What we got was a hilariously predictable outcome, preceded and succeeded by hilarious dialogue that may or may not have been intentional. It presented a look at the lives of game NPCs that we don’t normally think that much about, and the amount of impact altering their stories could have on their psyche. There were also some consequences to the actions performed by all parties, all of which the show handled gracefully and justly. We also made our way back to where we started, looking to start a whole new journey with Leon.

Trapped In A Dating Sim Episode 5 has a bizarre and wacky concept, an equally bizarre protagonist, and faces an uphill battle to become a respected anime despite all of its flaws. While this certainly wasn’t the best episode of the show, it did enough to reassure me that the direction it is headed towards is an entertaining one. Angelica and Olivia joining Leon’s party were always inevitable, but it is a good decision nonetheless. Let’s hope the future brings along even more wackiness our way.

Verdict

Trapped In A Dating Sim Episode 5 was a fun if a little weird episode of a show that doesn’t know the definition of the word “normal”. It was a middling conclusion to a good arc but featured a great start to a newer one as well.
