Yatri Kripya Dhyan De (2022) Review: Shaheer Sheikh and Shweta Basu Prasad Exceed Expectations!

Yatri Kripya Dhyan De is a thriller short film written and directed by Abhinav Singh and stars Shaheer Sheikh and Shweta Basu Prasad in lead roles. The short has a runtime of 16 minutes.

The short is described on the YouTube trailer page as:

Shot in Kerala, the film revolves around Sumit, a traveler in his early 30s who meets a hitchhiker while driving back home, they get talking & what unfolds later is a series of surprising turns.

Yatri Kripya Dhyan De review does not contain spoilers –

Yatri Kripya Dhyan De runs on a very familiar route that you really desperately expect to jump on another route. You sit there wondering when it’s going to take that route that finally differentiates it from that one story of Darna Mana Hai, which, too, had a good twist. When you’ve almost given up hope and resigned to the fact that this is going to be just another tried and tested story of “pyasi aatma” and whatnot, is when you get the twist.

It’s something that honestly comes out of the left field. It did remind me of Darna Mana Hai, but I guess that’s what the creators wanted to follow anyway. The story is annoying and uninteresting at first since you know where it’s going until that little nudge derails it completely. I laughed out loud when the twist was revealed and at 16 minutes, it’s entertaining and hilarious.

Yatri Kripya Dhyan De

Honestly, if this was anything more than the runtime it was given, Yatri Kripya Dhyan De would’ve been absolutely insufferable to sit through.  However, the creators cleverly don’t overdo it and keep it clean and small to get annoyed and then get a funny payoff. The Money Heist nod, too, did not go unnoticed here.

I like small stories that can make an impact. Although this isn’t going to stay with me for the rest of my life, it simply isn’t trying to be that, it did entertain me a heck lot at 16 minutes and that’s all that I can ask for. Shaheer Sheikh and Shweta Basu Prasad are the only two people in this thriller and both nail their performances. Basu Prasad, especially, is absolutely delightful as she is annoying at first. I did not expect her character to take this turn, although I did expect some turn in some way.

Summing up: Yatri Kripya Dhyan De

Yatri Kripya Dhyan De

Yatri Kripya Dhyan De is absolutely delightful and at 16 minutes, it delivers what it promises – entertainment and a good laugh. I was thoroughly impressed, although it did get me in the first half with its atma sob story, not going to lie!

Yatri Kripya Dhyan De is streaming on Amazon Mini TV.
