Netflix’s Kota Factory Season 2 Review: The highly anticipated Kota Factory Season 2 was released on Netflix on September 24th. The season picked up from where it last ended: Vaibhav shifts to Maheshwari classes in order to have a better chance at cracking IIT. Just like before, Season 2 consists of 5 episodes, each 45 minutes in duration. This gives it a total run time of just a little under 4 hours.
The series is directed by Raghav Subbu and produced by TVF. It stars Jitendra Kumar, Revathi Pillai, Ahsaas Channa, Mayur More, Ranjan Raj, Alam Khan, and Urvi Singh, among other cast members.
Kota Factory Season 2 Review
The series follows the life of IIT aspirants as they face various struggles while trying to crack one of India’s most competitive entrance examinations for admission in the country’s most prestigious universities. Season 2 brings with it new challenges and life lessons by none other than Jeetu Bhaiya (Jitendra Kumar), but does Kota Factory Season 2 keep up with the success of Season 1?
Kota Factory is a much-needed show considering the competition in today’s world. Over a million students apply to appear for JEE, the entrance test for IITs across the country. Out of which, fewer than 5000 are lucky enough to actually make it through.
Kota, a city in Rajasthan, is the biggest hub that now specialises in coaching institutes that specifically focus on preparing students for competitive exams like these. Vaibhav, like countless others, was a topper in his school, but in Kota, he’s only average. Kota serves as a reality check and a measure of just how difficult the exam is going to be.
In a way, the whole show does revolve around IIT entrances, but it really is so much more than just that.

Kota Factory Season 2 brings in new problems for Vaibhav and his friends as they realise just how difficult the next year is going to be for them. Jeetu Bhaiya is as wise as ever, but he seems to be juggling with changes of his own. The show will not only make you reminisce about your 11th and 12th but will leave you thinking about a lot more than just IIT entrances. Season 1 was great and made you fall in love with the characters during the course of 5 episodes, and Season 2 gives it the scope to explore these in much more depth.
The last season focused more on just Vaibhav, with the rest of the characters serving supporting roles, but the new season does much to integrate all of these cast members and give them stories of their own. Besides the development in the script, Kota Factory Season 2 plays with colour, sound, and creatively placed voiceovers to drive each point home. Dialogues were always a strength, as seen with the last season, and continue to be so with this season as well, but the premise somehow feels much more explored.
Final Verdict
Kota Factory is a great satire on the cut-throat competition and fickle attitude of coaching institutes determined to earn as much as they can, and students who would rather die than not make it into IIT. But more than just a sarcastic web series, Kota Factory subtly brings out the flaws within our education system.
