Netflix’s The Barrier Episode 5 Review: Marta and the Little Baby

The Barrier or La Valla is a Spanish-language TV series created by Daniel Ecija and starring Unax Ugalde, Olivia Molina, Eleonora Wexler, Abel Folk, Angela Molina. The series is produced by Atresmedia in collaboration with Good Mood Productions.

The Barrier episode 5 review

The Barrier episode 5 starts off with Alma carrying Marta back home. However, inspite of putting up a front of caring for her, Alma tries to spin her web. She asks her to keep the entire thing a secret which the confused kid agrees to do. Marta’s reunion with her family is emotional, and obviously everyone is over the moon. However, during these emotional times, Alma checks Emilia out, and tries to intimidate her about her relationship with Luis.

Luis is as good a character in The Barrier episode 5 as he was in the last episode. When Daniela comes home with an undocumented baby, he tries his level best to help her. He also saves Alex, Julia and Hugo from the clutches of the police. However, when a tragedy takes place, the sneak peek tells us that Luis might, infact, have more hidden than he’s letting on.

We also see Carlos’s angle in The Barrier episode 5, and the Commander threatens to murder his family if he doesn’t comply with a mysterious request. We later see him doing something very dangerous and alarming.

Julia, on the other hand, might be in trouble. The police call her for questioning, thinking that she’s Sara. Emilia is, understandably, very concerned and asks her to leave. However, she is now too meddled up in her family’s affairs. There’s a lot of things that depend on her being present there and thus she makes a split-second decision that might have serious consequences.

Alma’s character also promises to be very interesting, considering a few revelations that come our way in this episode. It is hard to say whether she’s absolutely delusional, or just really good at pretending. She oscillates from being caring and loving to almost murderous, and it’s sometimes difficult to differentiate her two personalities from each other.

The Barrier episode 5

There’s a ray of hope in such desperate times, with Marta coming back home and the little baby’s birth. However, that doesn’t seem to be a long-staying affair, considering how The Barrier episode 5 constantly hovers between completely taking away hope and then giving some. Whenever it seems like a hopeless situation, someone or the other steps up and proves that there is something to look forward to.

However, the sneak peek doesn’t seem all too hopeful, and it remains to be seen what is in store for our family.

The Barrier episode 5 is streaming on Netflix.
