For the first time, we aren’t starting fresh! We actually have a plot string! How exciting! Well, not for Akira, which is a bummer, but for us! He is actually in a very bad way, having to go back to his past as a measly abused worker under the same boss who had tortured him for years. It is going to be very interesting to see if this managed to break him, and the kind of person he has become over the series so far, as this is a litmus test for all that.

Having a bad boss is not uncommon. Having a boss who the devil himself will have to bow to when he goes to burn in the deep recesses of hell is not, and Akira’s boss is one of them. Akira overcoming him, with the assistance of Shizuka and Kencho, is going to be the most cathartic moment of the series so far. Shizuka even understands why Akira is behaving this way around his boss, leading to a deeper understanding between the two.
