Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead Episode 3 Review- Old Friend

The show has very pretty aesthetics that make watching every episode a brisk and light experience despite the subject matter. Time flies by as the animation smoothly takes us through the city’s very colourful yet equally deadly zombie hordes. Every time there is a flashback, we see the show’s aspect ratio also change, which is a neat little technique that helps separate the two parts. Due to this, whenever we come back to the current time, the world feels bigger than it used to look, which gives improves the depth of field and makes things look bigger.

The human element of the happenings is never forgotten despite the deviously lighthearted nature of the show. It always finds new ways of showcasing all the absolute chaos that is currently reigning around the world. The lens used this time was a club in Shinjuku, one of the busiest places in Tokyo, through the eyes of its star host. Despite things looking like they were fine on the inside, a lot of effort had been made to keep it that way, and a lot of lives are already or will be lost to keep it that way.

While that was happening, Akira was working on going a good batch of facial hair, displaying the sense of delightful contrast that the show loves to revel in. It is not like Akira doesn’t care about what is happening in the world. He does. But there’s only so much he can do for the others when he himself is stuck in a place with no contact and his life is in danger whenever he tries to do anything. He is happy just to be alive at this moment, and that is not a bad thing. However, like any normal human, he has his regrets.

As soon as he is able to find a way to contact people, he messages everyone he knows but couldn’t connect with because of his work. With their mortality weighing on him, he calls one of his dearest friends, and the one person he knows wouldn’t die quite as easily as some of the others. That call formed the backbone of the entire episode and told quite an emotional story that saw the friends both full of regret over their last interaction trying to escape the zombies. It showcased Akira’s resourcefulness and resolve very well, and Kencho is a great character to have around now.

Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead Episode 3 was a great episode that did most things right. There were a lot of subtleties that could have easily been missed had one not paid attention to them, and displayed most of the positive qualities of the show. We are also now 75% of the way through the show introducing characters that are in the opening music video, and we have quite a solid group of people here. While the show is still establishing itself, its roots are quite strong already for a fascinating tale.
Verdict
Zom 100 Bucket List of the Dead Episode 3 was a great and very fun episode that focused on clearing the conscience of Akira and introducing a dynamic that will no doubt play a big part in the show.
