The maknae of GOT7 is back with another single, after his 2022 single Take U Down. The new Ponytail music video has prepped Yugyeom’s fans as he flawlessly sang and brought back the breeze 2000 vibe. Featuring rapper Sik-K, the song is a magic package for all the Aghases who were expecting a new song for the New Year.
Ponytail, is produced by South Korean artist Gray, who is well known for his songs such as Sweaty, Comfortable, Late Night and such. Often known for his beats that work well for rappers, Gray, Yugyeom and Sik-K’s combo was unexpected yet what we needed. The music video has captured the old 90s and 2000 vibes, with the ladies swaying wearing high ponytail.
Ponytail Music Video: Red Hair Ladies and Yugyeom’s Sexy Lyrics
Yugyeom who is loved for his grooves, proved his fans that his vocals are contagious. The lyrics of the Ponytail song says out how Yugyeom is happy about his significant other’s hairstyle, which is a ponytail, and how he feels she is amazing no matter what. The lyrics particularly state phrases such as , “You’re so fine my bae”, “Makeup on or bare-faced”, “Love your ponytail” and similar lyrics that clearly scream Yugyeom is in love with the woman’s soul and not her beauty.
Meanwhile, Sik-K also renders promising lyrics where he says lines such as, “Will show it off and make you laugh out loud,” “I’m all ears, F their opinion off,” etc. Man, whoever they’re singing this too, I’m so happy. These are the men who raise the standards, and we’re proud of it.
Visuals and Music
Another interesting part about the ponytail music video is the editing and cinematography. Yugyeom can be seen flaunting his aesthetically pleasing dresses in a white background setting, along with the ladies. We can also see how the video is set in 3:4 aspect ratio, like the nineties videos. The music video feels chill and breezy, affirming a good R&B song to sip wine and dance to.
Thanks to the instruments, the song doesn’t feel very similar to other songs. I loved the brass instruments and the guitar riffs, which wonderfully complemented both Sik-K rap and Yugyeom’s mellow voice. Overall the music producer Gray also did justice to the song and gave out a song that has decent lyrics, calm music, stunning visuals, alluring vocals and a rap bar that drops hard.
Ever since GOT7’s Yugyeom signed with AOMG entertainment, his real artistic side has been well explored. We’re waiting for more from Yugyeom this year and we know he won’t fail us. Until then stream Ponytail!
