Yellowjackets Season 2 is on the production track, so fans can rejoice! Showtime’s psychological thriller-horror series received a lot of praise and appreciation with its brilliant first season and, it has been quite some time that people have been eagerly waiting for some update on when the second season will roll out.
Yellowjackets is created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson and, features an ensemble cast that includes Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Liv Hewson, and Courtney Eaton along with Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Juliette Lewis, Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell. Actors Ella Purnell, Steven Krueger, and Warren Kole are also part of the series.
With the first season that came out back in 2021, the show has received many accolades for its excellent story and performances. The show even has seven Primetime Emmy Award nominations and, Lynskey and Ricci have also been nominated for their performances. The renewal of the show came quickly back at the end of 2021 but, it wasn’t until recently that fans knew where the show was heading.

But, Yellowjackets Season 2 production story is not all that we have to offer. For the second season, we have a new cast member that people are excited to see. Elijah Wood will be joining the show in the role of Walter, who happens to be a dedicated citizen detective, much like Misty. The announcement of Wood joining the cast was made in a rather fun manner, revealing his character name, role as well as some connection he will be forming with Christina Ricci’s Misty.
Yellowjackets span over two parallel years. We meet a team of New Jersey high school soccer players in 1996, who travel to Seattle for a national tournament. However, while flying over Canada, the plane, unfortunately, crashes in the wilderness as the remaining team members struggle to survive for 19 months. Holding us witness to their survival chronicle, the series tracks these teens to their adulthood in 2021 and shows us how they’re living their lives.
As of now, there is no release announced for Yellowjackets Season 2. However, looking at how the show is already in production, one can assume that it can have a release during the early half of 2023.
