The Patient Episode 2 Ending Explained
The first episode of The Patient introduced us to our main characters- the psychotherapist and his patient, who turns out to be a killer that ultimately ends up capturing the former to seek help to help with his killing compulsions. Alan, the therapist seemed to be trapped in a basement house by the woods by his patient, Sam. Throughout the episodes, we see him screaming for help or trying his way out to escape.
But, what was also relevant in the first two episodes was the fact that Alan could hear someone moving on the upper floor of the house he is trapped in. It is clear that Sam isn’t alone in the place where he has captured Alan and, Alan uses this for his benefit towards the end of The Patient Episode 2.
After Sam leaves for work one morning, we see Alan get out of his bed after hearing the recurring noise from upstairs. He says, ‘can you hear me up there? I can hear you. Are you okay? Can you talk?’ after which we see a figure walking down a staircase. The figure is seen carrying a metal rod-like object and the episode ends with Alan saying hello to the figure. This person will turn out to be Sam’s mother.
Linda Emond, who plays Candace Fortner is Sam’s mother and is a main cast member. It is possible that Sam lives with his mother as the upcoming episode titled ‘Issues’ will feature Alan bringing a ‘new variable’ in the sessions he conducts with Sam.
