-Yakitori Soldiers of Misfortune Review Contains No Spoilers-
Set in a dystopian society where Earth is captured by aliens with the people on the brink of extinction, the only way to survive is to follow the enemies’ rules. However, the unknown beings are not unknown after all, as they are merely animals taking over the planet. Mammals like dogs and cats are at the top of the food chain, and human beings are at the bottom. Even though the concept of it is not new, the hidden symbolism is what makes it interesting.
The story seamlessly transitions from the present to the past and vice versa, which entirely captivates the audience with its immersive storytelling process. The creators meticulously mapped out the series, and carefully plotted the story arcs, character developments, and thematic progression to ensure a cohesive and compelling narrative. It will easily transport the audience to the new world, evoke profound emotions, and leave a lasting impact.
Each episode within the series is crafted with precision, serving as a building block in the larger story. The pacing is finely tuned, allowing for moments of tension, revelation, and resolution. Moreover, the interplay between individual episodes and the broader story arc creates a sense of anticipation and reward, enticing the audience to delve deeper into the series. However, the most fascinating aspect of it all is the hidden meanings behind certain interactions that correlate with the real world.

Furthermore, there is not a single dull moment in the 30-minute episodes. Apart from the action-packed sequences, certain scenes consist of important lessons that force the viewers to develop an introspective thought process. The plot consistently manages to keep the audience on edge and introduces many twists and turns that no one can see it coming.
At the heart of the amazing series lies the art of character development. Each character is intricately woven into the fabric of the story, their personal growth and relationships driving the plot forward. As the series unfolds, viewers witness the complexities of these characters unravel, discovering their flaws, aspirations, and inner struggles. Nevertheless, the characters fail to foster a deep emotional connection with the audience to invest them in their journeys partly due to the length of the show.
The most important factor of the series is the spectacular animation, a visual feast that celebrates the art form. The attention to detail is breathtaking. From the intricacies of each character’s design to the meticulous rendering of their emotions, every element is carefully crafted. The use of dynamic camera angles and fluid action sequences creates a sense of exhilaration and intensity that adds to the storytelling process.
