Exo’s Xiumin has finally launched his solo music career on September 26, 2022, also marking the premiere of the Brand New MV. Lately, the K-pop world has been much absorbed by the old-school music terrain, and the singer has also followed suit in coming out with his latest title track from the same category.
This is one such music genre that can be played around with so many elements to give rise to a holistic experience no matter how many times it’s dabbled with. And similarly, as the lyrics of the song also detail, despite opting for a much-used music genre, Xiumin is showing us his “new self”.

The song’s theme has to do with how one feels every day to be just as exciting and new as the one before when they’re in love. It’s all like unpacking a surprise gift, just as one unravels the new layers of their beloved every single day whilst getting to know them, in turn also revealing new sides to your own self.
Xiumin’s Brand New MV Review
The music video is through and through an explosion of colourful moments onscreen. Xiumin is seen making a surprise delivery as a truck driver in some scenes, while in others, he breaks out into his groovy choreography.

Donning a platinum hairdo, he also teleports from one season to another, adding to the visual spectacle of the video. With some underlying secret easter eggs that can only be spotted by the fans of EXO, the new release also includes some sentimental quality with it. For most of the video’s duration, Xiumin is seen dancing in front of the neon lights that spell out “Paradise Diner”.

Later revealing that he’s the present we’ve all been waiting for, Xiumin’s newly released music video justifies the visual experience and makes his delivery a successful one. The song’s disposition is that of a summer track that you can bop your head along to, especially due to its addictive English hook.
As explained in an earlier online press conference, Xiumin described the sound of the album as one that “expresses the emotions of the early 1990s and early 2000s, which I loved since I was young, with my unique personality, and one can find various songs that feel nostalgic from the past.” The music video of the titular track embodies the same quality and sets up the foundation for Xiumin’s triumphant solo debut.
Xiumin’s official position in EXO is that of a vocalist. His latest album also features a collaborative release with NCT’s Mark after five years of sharing the creative space together. Previously, they’d released the SM Station track Young & Free, and now they’ve come out with the song How We Do. The album consists of a total of five tracks. Other than the aforementioned ones, the tracklist is completed by Feedback, Love Letter, and Serenity.
