World’s End Harem Episode 5 Review: A New Conspiracy

The anime that should have been hentai is back with World’s End Harem Episode 5. What sexual fantasies are we exploring and discovering this time around? Let’s find out in this review!

World’s End Harem Episode 5 Overview

World's End Harem Episode 5 Title

World’s End Harem or Shuumatsu No Harem in original Japanese is an Ecchi, Sci-fi, and Harem anime developed by Studio Gokumi of Tsuredure Children fame, alongside AXsiZ, which is known for shows like Seiren. The anime is based on a manga of the same name written by Kotaro Shono and LINK. This episode is also known as Shuumatsu no Harem Episode 5.

The series is directed by Nobuta Yuu, who has previously been involved with the productions of Bokura No and High School Fleet. The show was originally going to premiere in the Fall 2021 season of anime but was postponed to Winter 2022 due to some behind-the-scenes issues. World’s End Harem Episode 5 Review- Let’s Be Positive

Let’s do something different this time. Let us not talk about the elephant in the room at all and instead, let’s try to focus on the greater plot that’s going on behind the scenes in the show. We all know the deal by now that there’s a lot of nudity and the plot relies heavily on wish fulfilment. However, what that does obscure is the story the show tries to tell when every scene is littered with girls throwing themselves at a guy and being treated as objects.

The plotline is rather interesting. The world has been infected by a virus that killed most men, and the only ones left alive had a specific illness they were being treated for. This left the women in the show to deal with something no one would have imagined could happen, the consequences of which are far-reaching and multidimensional. This is a fun dilemma to ponder about when you aren’t constantly being inundated by everything else that the show does.

What makes things better is that this pandemic seems to be entirely man-made (woman-made if we’re being real). There is also a shadowy organisation controlling everything that happens in this world. They are the ultimate bad guys for the hero and his cohorts to take out and restore the world in a state similar to what it used to be before the virus. The shadowy government part has been done to death in many shows, and I don’t see how World’s End Harem will be able to put a new spin on it when the time comes.

The different boys who are still alive are all decent in their own rights, going about this situation in a realistic and logical manner. While only Reito was present in World’s End Harem Episode 5, you get the feeling that more of them are going to be involved in the mix soon enough. The two main ones, Doi and Reito, also share some interesting, if overdone, dynamics with their female handlers. That comes to play a lot in every episode and doesn’t necessarily work every time. They aren’t very good characters.

A new element is introduced in the latest outing for the show, resulting in one of the characters that the show put a spotlight on dying or critically injured at the very least. This represents a new threat on the board and something else that should contribute to the show getting more serious and plot-oriented. None of this matters if all the show focuses on is the nudity and fantasy, which should a least be toned down for the sake of the plot. The show has potential, only most of it is obscured by boobs.

Verdict

World’s End Harem Episode 5 was fine. There wasn’t anything inherently wrong with it apart from how cringy the nude scenes were. The plot has gotten more interesting, so there’s that at least.
