Wind Breaker Episode 7 Review and Recap – Jo Vs Sakura

Today’s fight was the one all of us were waiting for, and it should have been one of the most satisfactory ever. And, it was no doubt great in the beginning, but suddenly, we get a back story in the middle, and the overall flow of the story falls apart. This episode in the beginning was pretty promising as without wasting any time, we jump right into the fight between Jo and Sakura.
They do not hold back, and both go all out with their powers. Jo, who usually is as slow as a snail, quickly changes his pace and becomes so fast that even Sakura struggles to match his speed. Not only that, Jo even reveals that he can be faster than this, which he proves shortly after. Sakura, who from the very beginning, is shown to be the strongest character, gets wrecked at the beginning of the fight. It was so bad, that some even thought that things would end sooner than expected.

However, Sakura manages to hold his own against Jo and fight back. It started to become intense, but just when things seemed to be going well, they suddenly inserted a backstory that took up more space than needed. Here, we see how different Shishitoren used to be, before being corrupted by Choji. We also witness that Jo does not actually agree with how Choji does things, but he still goes on with his whims, because otherwise, he can be abandoned at any moment.
This part was a bit dragged, and we did not reach any conclusion regarding the fight. This will most likely go on in the next episode, and the fight between Choji and Umemiya will start further down the line. Other than this, the animation of this episode was really nice, as the fight sequences were crisp and clean.

Verdict
Today’s episode was definitely entertaining and good, but it could have been better. I would have loved a continuous fight without any interruptions or long flashbacks. But again, this anime is very dramatic, so we would have gotten a back story anyway, it’s just that it could have been shorter. All in all, it was a nice watch and I still have very high expectations from this show.
