Brief Make Mate 1 Episode 1 Recap
The episode commenced by beautifully describing the dreams of the contestants and how passionate they are about music, expressing their desire to become K-pop idols. Following this introduction, we were introduced to the special MC, Lee Gi-kwang, a member of the renowned group Highlight. He then introduced us to the panel of judges, known as C-Mates, and proceeded with the introduction of the contestants.

After the introductions, the first performance was announced. The 36 contestants were divided into teams and prepared eight performances. The scores from both the 300 live audience members and the C-Mates judges were combined. At the end of the first performance, the combined scores resulted in individual ratings. The contestants were then split into two groups based on these ratings; a process known as MATE DREAMS.

The showcase commenced with Be Mine taking the stage, comprising Choi Min-jun, Jang Hyun-jun, Noh Gi-hyeon, Jo Seung-hyeon, and Seo Ji-ho. Their performance garnered widespread acclaim, particularly for Hyun-jun’s standout vocal prowess. Amidst the anticipation of results, Noh Gi-hyeon emerged as the audience favorite, securing the highest number of votes.
Following them was Breathless, a quartet featuring Jung Hyun-jun, Miraku, Kim Si-on, and Jung Jae-Young. Their endearing performance mirrored their charming personas, although they encountered a brief pitch deviation. Si-on was identified as the standout member during the assessment of fan favorites.
Subsequently, the spotlight shifted to Growl, boasting talents such as Jeon Jun-pyo, Lin, Takuma, Jo Min-jae, and Shin Won-cheon. Their electrifying performance was punctuated by surprising elements that left both the audience and judges in awe of their skill. As the episode concluded, the results of their performance, along with those of the remaining acts, were teased for the forthcoming episode.
