Who’s Your Gynac Review

TVF and Girliyapa have come together to offer us a rather sweet and simple tale layered with important educational points and life experiences. Who’s Your Gynac is crisp, enjoyable and truly a show that will engage you with humour and knowledge in a short period of time.

The series revolves around the life of OB-GYN Dr. Vidushi Kothari. When we meet our doctor protagonist, she is at a very initial stage in her career. Her clinic is not buzzing with bees and even her best friend, Swara, who is pregnant is rather focused on having an experienced doctor treat her during her pregnancy process. As a fresher doctor trying to practice independently in a clinic, Dr., Vidushi’s life seems to have countless obstacles.

Who’s Your Gynac takes us on the journey Dr. Vidushi makes to establish herself and simultaneously develop and grow as a person. From being optimistic about her choices surrounding her patients and the clinic to the learnings and insights she gains as she threads on a path that might not seem extraordinary but, is unique to her, the series is a fun class on sex education, relationships and more.

This Amazon Mini TV series has an empathetic tone which often lacking in a world where thrillers and crime dramas make up most of our watchlist. It produces with caution and unfolds its narrative in a rather interesting manner. There is the breaking of the fourth wall that gives us a sense of intimacy with the characters on screen and a story that has a solid core. But most importantly it is the cast that makes this piece stand out.

The Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge star Saba Azad plays one of the most likeable characters ever. She is so girl-next-door and charmingly funny with her delivery that even though there isn’t a lot of depth in each segment, you stick by to follow her character’s journey and where she is heading. To make things more engrossing we have a set of characters with a variety of attributes to support her. The best friends- Swara and Mehr, the nurse- Violet, the neighbour crush- Dr. Arth, everyone contribute significantly to Azad’s character to keep the series going without the monotone of daily life events’ mundaneness.
