Welcome to Wedding Hell episode 7 is all about the errors that we make. After the last episode, Na-eun is seen sitting outside a showroom with Hui-seon waiting for a luxury watch to release. She wants to buy it for Jun-hyeong because he likes watches and she knows that it’s something that he will enjoy having. Unfortunately, she is still unable to land her hand on the watch after standing in line in the freezing cold.

She then wonders whether she should use her paid leaves to come to the store every day to get the watch. She dreams of the day that she can give the watch to Jun-hyeong and how happy he will be to get it… but I am guessing that’s not going to be so easy to do! Meanwhile, Jun-hyeong wonders why Na-eun would look up the price of her wedding gifts. Either way, when they meet that evening, Na-eun laments about not getting him a good gift and since she can’t take leaves every day (thank god), it’s best that she pays someone to stand in line.

Either way, Jun-hyeong suggests that they should then buy something else, but Na-eun’s adamance makes him happy. She tells him to leave this to her and that she will get it for him no matter what. Her dedication makes him feel like he was tensed for no reason about the gift price. Anyway, as the next days roll around, the three ladies rush out at lunch break to find the watch in any possible way. However, before she can even go into the store, Jun-hyeong calls and tells her that he already got a watch and that she doesn’t have to worry anymore.

Although Na-eun makes it look like she isn’t bothered, she, in fact, is extremely bothered that she couldn’t buy the gift for Jun-hyeong. At home, she feels overwhelmed with her mother’s gifts as well and sadly mentions that it feels like she and Jun-hyeong are simply ticking boxes instead of enjoying the process together. The next day, Jun-hyeong wonders what is bothering Na-eun but he just can’t put a finger on it. Min-woo puts the thought that maybe she’s upset that he got a more expensive watch than the one she was thinking of buying and maybe that’s what’s bothering her.

Although Jun-hyeong doesn’t want to believe him, the thought does stick with him. After they meet that evening, the couple goes out to buy things for his father and it’s very clear that Na-eun is absolutely not in the mood to discuss gifts with her fiancé. He does ask her why she’s upset and wonders whether it’s because of the watch – that he bought a more expensive watch without her permission.

This, obviously, sets Na-eun off, who asks him whether he thinks so little of her that she’d be upset over something like this. Trying to cool things off, he apologises to her but she asks him why he’s apologising. He is unable to answer that question, leaving Na-eun annoyed. That night, he meets up with Hui-seon and asks her what’s going on and she breaks down the reasons with a multiple-choice question. She further tells him to talk to Na-eun about important stuff, like why she calculated the price of her wedding gifts.

Frustrated with how silly he has been, Jun-hyeong goes to meet Na-eun and her family with bread as a peace offering – he cutely tells her mother that they don’t fight, he’s just getting scolded! He goes to meet her in her room and gives her a heartfelt apology. It’s sweet watching him actually understand Na-eun’s frustration and being empathetic towards it. Either way, a sweet apology ends the fight and they hug and makeup.

Ah, this was a sweet episode. Although Jun-hyeong is cute as a button, it’s difficult to do adult things with someone who is so aloof! I kind of understand Na-eun’s frustration – it’s annoying to always have to spell out your feelings at the smallest of thins. Although, as I’ve said before and I’ll say it again – Na-eun and Jun-hyeong have the worst communication I’ve seen in Korean dramas so far. Considering they are almost 40, it’s shocking how they’ve come thus far without a relationship breakdown.

Regardless, the real MVP of this episode is Hui-seon who is so done with this crap that she resorts to MCQs to solve her friend’s problems. She’s funny, insightful and mature and I wonder why she’s interested in dating Min-woo, who seems like he really dislikes women and is generally awful. Although we still have tons to go through, this episode gives a welcome breather and I wasn’t utterly frustrated throughout its small runtime.
