Vortex: Release Date, Plot, Cast, Trailer and More About the French Sci-Fi Series

Originally having premiered on France Televisions, Vortex is now coming to Netflix! Acquiring the rights to the French thriller series, the international OTT giant has made room for more impressive content on its catalogue. Produced by Quad Drama, the same company that made Women at War and The Bonfire of Destiny come to life, the TV show has already made quite a name for itself among its home audience, and is now ready to take over TV buffs all over the world.

Created by Camille Couasse and Sarah Farkas, the series has been directed by Slimane-Baptiste Berhoun, while Iris Bucher and Roman Turlure have produced it. Offering an emotionally thrilling ride into a fantastical world fuelled by science fiction and drama, the forthcoming series is likely to hold its ground despite the heavy waters surrounding it. Here’s what the show will look like.

Vortex Plot/ Storyline

Set in 2025, the series revolves around Ludovic, the protagonist of the story who’s a police captain, and has lost his young love, Melanie, in a tragic accident years ago. His present situation leads him down to a new crime, and as he studies the scene through virtual reality, a time warp offers him a sympathetic loophole, allowing him to reconnect with his deceased beloved few days before the tragedy actually struck her at the same spot in 1998.

With the new-found possibility of saving her life, Ludovic goes to great lengths and is desperate enough to rely on any means necessary to save her life, even if it means risking his own existence and further endangering his ties with his present wife Parvenu and their son Sam. Netflix’s inclusion of the previously released title for its international subscribers on its interface is already a step in the positive direction, hinting at how the show shouldn’t be missed out on.

Ironically, movies or show used to opt for setting their story’s location in distant years like 2025 initially to portray dystopian societies, but now the same year isn’t a far-fetched thought for us anymore. And so, Vortex Netflix will allow us a sneak peek into how police detectives are able to immerse themselves in the process of solving a mystery by studying and revisiting crime scenes using VR. Soon Ludovic’s investigation will also lead him to believe that both the cases of the past and the present are not too different from each other and may actually have the same mutual link tying them together.
