Vir Das Landing Trailer: Comedian Vir Das Returns With a Verbal Account of Indian References

Vir Das Landing is an upcoming Netflix Stand-up Comedy Special that will premiere this month. Written and directed by Vir Das himself, the show has a total runtime of approximately 66 minutes. In 2017 with Abroad Understanding, Das became the first Indian comedian to have a comedy special on the platform. He starred in two more comedy specials, Losing It and Vir Das: Outside In.

Vir Das also produces it with Cameron Fife, Akash Sharma, Kavi Shastri, Reg Tigerman and Matthew Vaughan. Jay Oza and Seamus Tierney are the cinematographers, Dave Harrison does film editing, and Ann Beyersdorfer does the production design.

The Netflix synopsis of the show reads as follows:

Vir Das dives deep into his childhood in India, the perils of outrage and finding his feet in the world for his fourth Netflix stand-up special.

The trailer gave us a brief overview of what the stand-up will be about. In the 93 seconds trailer, Vir Das talks about his experiences as an Indian. Through humour, he explains some of the typical unspoken Indian rules that people of different countries and ethnicities might be unaware of.

His use of dark humour to accentuate a simple reference is extraordinarily hilarious. Das also explains how much trouble he got into in the recent past due to his jokes and how he has also fallen prey to the “cancel culture”. BBC also named him as the comedian who polarised the nation.

Das went on to become one of the most popular Indian comedians recognised all over the world. Not only in stand-up shows, but he has also starred in various movies, his most notable and memorable roles being in Delhi Belly and Go Goa Gone. Following his first Netflix Special, the comedian skyrocketed to fame. The comedian was invited as a guest in Conan in 2017 and named “10 Comics to Watch for 2017” by Variety.
